Finally got the car up in the air.
And what a mess we found.
Near side leak seems to be the bottom of the turbo oil drain pipe. Recently had a gasket replaced at the top.

Offside. Oil filter and unions beneath covered in oil.
Also grease all over the place. Inner o/s cv leaking.

Rebooked at unit 20 for 2/9/21

Even with all of the above. Undertray clean and dry.
Never seen the underneath of the car in such a mess before.
Needs sorting.

Good hit with a paraffin gun will clean it up nicely, I'm sure.

Thanks Matt. Gave it a really good spray down this afternoon. But it will be the same mess by the time I get back to u20.

I thought my luck was in when I got home. My wife said take all your clothes off. I quickly responded.
She then added. I will put them all in the washing machine and you can get in the bath.

What a letdown.

Does the oil filter just need a tweak, or is it the unions leaking?

Not sure Matt. Spoke to grizz. Apparently there is a nut behind the filter that can come loose.
The filter itself is tight.
Don’t want to disturb anything. As this was all done during the full service I had performed.
As was the turbo oil drain pipe if this is the leak.
At the moment this is where the oil is accumulating.
The camshaft covers are still clean and dry.
But I am far from proficient in diagnosing the exact problem. Mainly because there is very little room you can get at.
I have to rely on the experts.

My 2.cents to add. The rear cam seal on the oil filter side (driver for me) was leaking. This leaked down onto the exhaust manifold, but thence onto the oil filter. Sounds like there's a bunch of other things leaking with your ride, but it's worth having a look back there to see if it's contributing. Not too hard to replace.

Hi lander. Many thanks for your comments.
When I had the car serviced the car was very clean on the offside (driver’s side) where the filter is located.
So I will have to wait and see what they find at Neston.

Just having a run of bad luck lately.

Bad luck continues. Jumped in the car and the rear view mirror has packed up.
Anyone fancy fitting the mirror John replacement glass for me for some beer tokens.
Or know of anyone with the skills that can do it.

Why don’t you send it to Mirror John?

Will talk to mirror John re glass.
Just sent mirrorjohn a PM
Mirror sent to John for repair 23/8/21

Oil leak update. Spoke to grizz this morning.
1) cv boot. Going to replace all of them. F?ck it.
At least I will then know they are original parts.

2) oil leaks. Asked if there was any benefit to remove the engine to cure the leaks. Grizz says no. They can get at everything that may leak without removing the engine.
So hopefully 2/9/21 visit will be the end of it.
1 leak near side
1 leak offside but I am no expert.
Fell out with Christine. She doesn’t love me anymore.

Ha ha. Ok. Will drive her into a brick wall and see if she repairs herself.

The image in my head was, I think, the same scene - where she drives up that alleyway into the wall to kill someone.
And my username on pistonheads is Arnold Cunningham. :)

Hi Matt. I was flipping through the tv channels last night.
You guessed it. Christine was just coming on. So a bit of nostalgia and I watched it again.
Love that film. Ben says the book is even better.
The scene where 4 lads smash it to pieces with sledgehammers and it puts itself back together is awesome.
Needless to say they all end up dead.
Music is pretty good too.
