Black Optics Pack.

Post by kam100 » Tue Jan 31, 2006 4:54 pm

Hi Guys.
Placed my order down on saturday (firm) with spec and have got the following:

Deytona Grey RS4 with Black optics pack.

I went for the optics pack at extra cost, as i think it will look great on the deytona grey, however i have just been told by a former RS4 owner that i may lose my chrome side mirrors by picking this.

I have both the hard back and the black pamphlet style brochure, and both say that the back optics pack makes the grill surround and window surround black and the boot lid trim body coloured. No where does it say that the side mirrors will be body coloured, (the salesman agreed by the way as we went through the brochures and were adding the spec). After spending £53k and waiting 5 months, if the car comes with body coloured mirrors i will go mad!! have also written to Audi customer services direct demanding an answer, and have told my salesman to do the same.

Anyone know for sure what the deal is with this?
Deytona grey looks nice as does the red and blue, check out this video clip, may have been seen before but no harm in relinking;

Would have thought you are pretty safe. Although I quite fancy black or even carbon mirrors as every Corsa and Seat now has silver mirrors.

Did they give you any indication if you could pick and choose the optics pack? I would like to keep the silver grille surround.

Are black exhausts included in the optics pack?

No from what it said in the brochure and pamphlet style brochure, you don't get any choices, you can't pick and choose.

Optics pack will black out front grill, side chrome window surrounds and rear boot trim which is in chrome will be body coloured with the pack.

I want to retain the chrome mirrors, as i have never had an S/RS car before and want to retain some of the hallmark looks, although im thinking the engine sound and the little badges will give away the cars performance credentials.

Just heard back from a lady called jacquie who is in charge of niche marketing products for Audi, she has confirmed and it has been confirmed to me via writing (email) and DP copied in that the mirrors will come chrome, and optics pack is as it reads:

Front Grill Surround and window surround trim in high gloss black finish and the boot trim which is chrome normally will come body coloured.

Just how i wanted it, so am a happy man again!

Would look good with the wheels done anthracite like the RS6+ ones.

The exhaust pipes look black to.

Thanks - I'm not sure in red. I bet it looks menacing in black though.

mmmm I am not sure about the optics pack effectively deleteing the chrome front grill surround, Thats the new look! On a dark car (not the red) it would just look like there is something missing in my view.
