Re: New brakes
Do you get a bracket to move the caliper out with the kit ,or did you have to get that fabricated thanks Jondon0301 wrote:410 fronts, and OE size rears

Re: New brakes
My thread used a different caliper by AP Racing so my particular bracket wouldn't fit the OEM caliper. However it's good to see that there's only a very small unswept area on the 410mm discs using the OEM caliper/pads, say 5mm at most, which means swapping from OEM isn't really necessary which is a bonus as the OEM Brembo calipers are bloody good!

Re: New brakes
yeah, mine's oem calipers and bracket, just slighter longer bolts in the kit.
pheaton mod back plate still fits, and no addition to my insurance.
well pleased.

Re: New brakes
I've just done almost exactly the same to mine;
410 front, 356 rear with brembo "H" floating discs, stock caliper but with spacers/longer bolts on the front to fit the 410mm discs
HEL lines,front and rear
Ferodo DS2500 pads
Phaeton mod
I noticed that your discs don't have a fixing screw to keep them attached to the hub, is this a pain when removing, refitting wheels

Re: New brakes
I never refit the locating screw as they are an absolute bastard in the UK; they almost never come out. I have had to cut a disc off the hub and then grind the remainder down before after the screw rounded and then a drill bit snapped in it.

Re: New brakes
I know what you mean. Small Torx screws are pretty useless long term. Had loads of problems. What I do now is fit them with thread lock and leave them loose.

Re: New brakes
I have had the same problem many times, but was pleasantly surprised how easy all 4 came out on the RS6, and it does make it easy refitting wheels when the holes all line up.

Re: New brakes
The OE screws aren't great. I invested in some stainless torx and haven't had a problem since.
Re: New brakes
Probably the two best tools I've ever had are the butane torch I got recently and the impact tools. When used together, they make life much easier. I got a butterfly impact as well for small stuff in tight locations. Works really well on screws

Re: New brakes
Blimey, even 410mm discs look small behind those MTM alloys!
