Rear Diffuser/Exhaust Tips

Post by Jamie_P » Sat Jun 20, 2020 7:16 pm

I have a query,
On our MY15 FL (w/ black pack) the black on the oval exhaust tips is fading away. It’s starting to look tacky and a bit rubbish.
Anyone have a clue if just the oval tip can be replaced or does it have to be the whole diffuser part?

Ta

Just the tips mate,I just repainted mine,I lowered the exhaust and unscrew the 3 screws holding each tip in and that’s it,some people take the rear bumper off but I found my way easier

This sounds pretty straight forward. Do you mind saying how you lowered it as I am locking to have these repainted aswell. Thanks

I just did mine too - removed the bumper to get them off which was surprisingly easy.

This video helped - https://youtu.be/_Qw0OxeaPfU. Think there’s an extra screw for the avant vs. the video of the saloon but it’s pretty obvious. You’ll need a box or something to sit the bumper on as the parking sensor cable doesn’t easily unclip and is too short for the bumper to sit on the floor. Note the screws are star shaped - the toolkit has the right size if you don’t have the right tool already.

I got the tips dipped and double powder coated at a wheel refurb place for £20! All pretty cheap and easy to do.

There’s a few threads on here about getting them replaced on warranty - I did that on my last rs6, had to contribute half the cost, and they corroded again within 6 months so a complete waste of money and effort!

Hope that helps.
