Front Callipers

Post by Jezza1644 » Fri Jun 05, 2020 11:47 am

Hi, I need two front Callipers as they're sticking, can anyone recommend a good place to get the callipers from?

Thanks in advance.

If you want new, I purchased brand new calipers for 1300 euros last year from killerbrakes.com , great service.

You could refurbish them as well, there are quite a few posts on here for refurbishment. It's likely you have corrosion under the metal plates, which then keeps the pads from returning - again there are threads on here which show this, and what people have done to clear the corrosion and put the plates back in (if they are not too badly corroded).

I would also be in favour of refurbishing them, maybe even take the pads out yourself and investigate the problem. As above, it could be something as simple as a warped slider plate, which can be unbolted and replaced or even straightened. If the pads move easily try pushing the pistons back slightly (remove the brake fluid cap) to see if they are the issue. No point in throwing money at it unless they are beyond economic repair.

Thanks both. I'll have a look first as you suggest before going down the point of no return!

I've used Godspeed in Bridgend to refurb a set of fronts. They also sorted the thread out on a rear. Highly recommend them. Not sure what their service is like at the moment though

got a spare set of front that have been in the garage a year or so
they were not sticking but audi said they needed replacing when they did the brake pipes. there were not going to guarantee 100% that they could form a seal when the new pipe was screwed in
i'd expect they need a refurb and a cleanup. but all yours if you want them.

Thanks mate for the offer. I'm going to send them to BCR in Rochdale for refurbishment, currently a 6/7 day turnaround. They do a metallic/pearl finish for an extra £30 but not sure if this is worth doing?
