<beep>. To fit the two larger chrome dial rings you have to separate the glass. You guessed it. Instrument tech smashed the glass. puck it.
Another one on order already fitted with chrome dials.
To be fair the glass had been super glued to the plastic cover in two places.
Will get there but I wish I never started.

Replacement 3rd cluster arrived today. Removed the front with the chrome dial surrounds and fitted it to the RS6 spare cluster.
Must admit the chrome rings really lifts the dials and ties in very nicely with the chrome ring on the steering wheel.
Now need to swop them over.

What device are you using? I only ever use my iPhone. Other than that there’s nothing more I can offer, sorry Steve.

Original cluster.
Just seeing if I can copy a photo on here.
Photo also shows the faded pixels on the dis display panel which I have got to get fixed as it is really annoying.

Just found out by sheer luck. If you tap on the photo it turns it the right way up.

Replacement cluster.
This is the one I want to install.
Just looks so much better imo.
Cannot decide on 2 options.
1) fit the whole unit and recode with help from forum members. And hopefully that would also cure faded dis display.
Milage could be anything
2) transfer dials/glass front onto original cluster and have dis display renewed at a later date.
Correct milage would be retained.

Ordered vag commander. To assist in the swop.
Many thanks to the two members on here providing the technical experience.
Fingers crossed.
