I presume it’s a simple lever that presses the micro switch ? Having checked the little rubber hat on the top of the switch is split but it still works when pressed. Is it a simple plastic lug that presses it when the door is opened then ?

But if you have any suggestions for possible ways to fix the drivers before I get a new one feel free

IIRC, the OE microswitch is a non-standard switch. It's made by one of the common switch manufacturers, but I couldn't find the part - I think it was custom for audi perhaps.
The aftermarket ones use a generic switch - and if I'd been bothered, I was just going to replace the aftermarket ones with higher grade (ip67 or something) switches. But in the end, I went OE.

It's a generic part across many Audi's is it not ? It's not C5 specific ?

Correct, the lock cross references across loads of cars, including a Lamborghini IIRC

Still doesn’t help me

My switch works and is original. But it’s not getting activated when I open the door
