New C6 owner

Post by ShazRS6 » Thu Apr 02, 2020 12:34 am

Guys so I finally purchased a C6 RS6 today

After owning a handful of c5 after the last one I have up on them

And have been looking for a c6 rs6 for some time and managed to find a decent one

Needs a few niggly bits doing to it but being a mechanic and painter nothing I can’t do

It’s a stage 2 one with full miltek system and all tuning work done at MRC

main jobs like 50p oil seals and coolant pipes have been done

Drove it back from Manchester this evening to London and first time driving the c6
All I can say is OMG

totally overwhelmed is a understatement

Anyway the suspension feels very worn
Not happy with it so what are my options guys?

I have some near new bilstein coilovers which I kept for my c5 will these fit the c6?

Also thinking of doing all the suspension arms aswell
What do you guys recommend?

Here’s a pic

Also when I first saw it thought it was like a moon dust silver colour
When we went to view it it’s actually light blue
Very very nice colour

Going to be taking the front lip spoiler off as I don’t like it and there’s some film type <beep> on the headlights and rear lights which will be coming off ASAP

Gave it a good clean today
Took the horrid headlight and back light film off

And the front splitter

Few issues whilst on the ramp

Rear shock is leaking
And so is the front passenger side one

So going the coilovers Route now

How do I get rid of the DRC?
Is there a kit you can buy?

Also both inner lights on tailgate need to be changed
And drivers rear led lights are not working

Nice car!

When you said overwhelmed, I assume you were talking about the engine rather than the suspension.

Hi Shaz,

Suspension - The C6 DRC is way more reliable than the older C5 version. I did the same as you with my old C5 and Bilstein'ed it but on the C6 just setting the "in-car" adjustable DRC setting from "Comfort" (very soft and basically 'A6' mode) to "Sport" (much stiffer) on the MMI screen gave me almost the same response at the Bilsteins did on my C5. I then added thicker Anri-Roll bars and the handling was better than my C5.

However if they're really that worn then, as the DRC is electronically linked into the MMI, if you swap to Bilsteins/KW etc then unless you also add the unique "DRC electronic removal box" (it's more than just a shorting link) you'll get permanent DRC warnings as the cars databus (CANBUS) is constantly looking for messages from the suspension and throws a wibble when it can't see it.

Hope that helps!
