C5 values

Post by Nkirk99 » Sun Mar 08, 2020 1:49 pm

I’m starting to toy with the idea of finally parting with my c5 saloon after seven years of ownership. I’ve been looking at values, they are all over the shot on eBay and trader. Sellers claiming cars are low mileage with 120k and trying to sell them for £15k, it’s a minefield.

I sort of figured a rough value of £10k for mine. (2002 mugello blue saloon, 75k great condition, lots spent in my ownership, two cambelt changes etc etc)
Is this way over valued?
Advice welcome, positive or negative! I’m dreading the thought of having to deal with the ‘interesting’ folk of eBay for what is a specialist car these days.

What have people on here actually paid for theirs recently, did you find the car on the bay, here on the classifieds etc? Has anyone bought one recently........

I’d appreciate everyone’s thoughts on the values of our cars.

10k sounds like a good price if it's in good condition and has good service history. Prices are close to the bottom now, and I reckon they'll start to go up once all the dogs and knackers have been scrapped / parted. 75k isn't many miles for one, so it's got good potential future value at the moment.

It'll follow the same value curve as the RS2 and the UrRS4. Just my opinion, of course.

Ultimately it's worth what someone will pay for it. Boy racers looking for a cheap rocket on eBay won't look twice at a strongly priced RS6, but someone in the know probably will.

I'd definitely try the classified here and PH. eBay much lower on my list of preferences for car buying sites.

The shonky crap on that certain dodgy trader in yorkshire is about 8-10k.

I'd think a genuine 75k miler would be worth more. How much more I have no idea. I'd think at least £10k. It's not over valued at that I don't think.

I paid 11k for my 2004 on 88,000 ish I think it was in 2015 (year out, doh) . That's a saloon. I don't think prices have changed that much since then. There's still the dirt boxes that are very cheap with a massive list of problems and the low mileage minters that are £14-£15k.

Paid 12.5 k for mine 8 years ago. Would want the same if I sold. Spent quite a bit in the last 2 years on her.
Saw a 2010 v10 plus for sale recently at £24995 and I was interested.
They offered me 6.5 k part x and I told them to forget it.
For comparison I contacted we buy any car.
They offered £5.5 k
Hence the reason I decided to keep mine.
If you are looking for 10k for yours with 75k miles and in very good condition.
I think that is a steal for someone.

75k is pretty low miles. Not many around with that few. I'd honestly say £10k was a steal ! But they are hard to shift right now :-(

We paid through the nose for all early RS cars here. Top spec though. Benefit is a kind climate and the older ones now can still look as new underneath. I've had my share of UK imports and the corrosion is a real impediment to effective restoration so I'd imagine that gets factored into a final price in your country.

This model has obviously not seen the crazy pricing found on the early RS4, URS6, S2, and crazy money RS2 models. Personal opinion is they will go up in a couple of years as someone else has stated something like "when the rough ones have been parted out"

Mines a high mile 150k example that I was after selling, with 20k of maintenance work. I was being offered £6k for it but it needed pads and discs. I think £10k is a very fair price for a sub 80k miler with good history.

I can see the high milers being £10k in a few years. IMO the performance and sound these cars give is amazing now let alone back on 02/03 when they came out.

Theres no doubt about a price hike being that the C5 is the original RS6 and made iconic with the Layer Cake reference etc, its just really a question of when now. A good point has already been made about when the dogs start dying off and make whats already a rare car, extremely rare, so probably still a few years away unfortunately

This question comes up pretty much every year, sadly the prices don't.

Looking for the silver lining? Never made a cent in my life on cars, had some hugely special ones but moved on at the wrong time. Just buy them to drive and forget about the value. You might get a nice surprise when it's move on time, but you won't be disappointed.

Suspect I've done less than 110 miles in mine.
