Wingmirror

Post by JimRS6 » Wed Oct 30, 2019 3:50 pm

Is this repairable: I don’t have the spare cash to replace it after some ass wipe smashed it off earlier whilst outside the house.
Police won’t do anything and the council won’t hand me cctv footage unless I go through insurance. Don’t really want to lose NCBs.

Having a look at the parts diagram, I think if you take the mirror apart, you can switch out the hinge plate with another one: Parts Diagram

It looks like it's just an A6 part not RS6 specific...

There are a load of C5 mirrors on ebay so should be a cheap fix

Yeah. The expensive bit is the aluminium shell.

I assume eventually all the cars will have the auto-dimming glass replaced as it degrades.
Audi have started dropping replacement auto dimming glass, and the ones they still list are up to about £350.

Or is there a source of replacements anyone knows of?

There was a guy who was making them for the E46 M3 on M3cutters. Might be worth seeing if he can do the Audi ones.

Are they dimming, though? I suspect not.

Bought a complete rh side mirror assy. Took the glass out to replace my degraded one.
So I have the rest of it as spare.
The original post had a smashed mirror.
He can have this one if he still hasn’t got his sorted.
