Dream car has always been the C6 RS6 & currently looking for one and often thought it'd be no trouble given the understated nature of the car however the more I dig the more I worry myself about the risk of theft.
First golf Rs/S3s now it seems to be AMG estates and fast Audi's to be car of choice for the tools. I'm worried that given it'd be the wife's daily and the sound from it how much attention do they attract?
I'm not on social media so the car will be off the radar so to speak & it's also likely to stay away from shows too. I know I have some security improvements to make before I pull the trigger but they only go so far because if they want it they'll usually go to extreme lengths to get it.
Maybe it's only the bad stories to read online as there is guy around the corner who had a C5 saloon & now a b8 RS4 and seems to be no bother

It can be different in different areas of the UK but generally the C6 hasn't really been the Crims car of choice - The C7 and newer RS3 type cars are still far more likely to be taken.
Mine was parked roadside in Stoke for a year & parked in a driveway in Rochester for nearly 3 years without issue, and neither of those places are exactly havens of peace and tranquillity

To judge whether a car is a high theft risk or not, take a look at the cost of insurance. There are lots of factors in play, but for the same owner / address / occupation / useage etc, a low insurance premium (for a high performance car) would tend to indicate a low risk of theft. My Mercedes was cheap to insure in relation it's performance, and when a few things started to go wrong I quickly found that it was very difficult to move without a working key. There are ALWAYS ways around security, but in this case they were difficult and time consuming to overcome even you know exactly what you're doing, and I believe the C6 uses a similar security system, which would give me lot of confidence. The biggest risks are probably fraud or key theft.

Insurance isn't that expensive few hundred more than the current car so doesn't seem to be a big risk.
The car itself is very understated anyway, I don't plan on doing any modifications to it to make it louder or standout more so hopefully that should keep it good plus some seat covers to preserve the seats may also help.
Like I said before I plan to keep it away as much as possible from certain areas.
Also does anybody recommend a good tracker to fit? I don't mind fitting myself & ideally in a location not easy to get to

The problem with a tracker is that it doesn't prevent the theft in the first place. I use one of these as a deterrent:

It clamps around the spoke and tucks up against the A pillar perfectly. It can be seen through the windscreen, that way a thief will be able to see it before they even come up for a closer look.
According to a friend who uses one religiously on his Mustang, the pro is the one to get. The lower models are much easier to get off.
