Car forgets to pop and crackle sometimes

Post by johnny11 » Sun Oct 13, 2019 9:24 am

I’ve noticed over the past few weeks that sometimes on the down shift in sport mode the car forgets to pop bang and crackle. For example yesterday on the way home from Gatwick which took me an hour all worked fine was banging popping down the lanes, but after around 45 mins no pop or banging, i changed the drive select to comfort then back to dynamic and this got it back. Has anyone else ever had this?

Is it not cause the car goes into 4 cylinder mode then you don't get the exhaust noise. Usually does that when your cruising on a motorway

Did you switch off ignition at any point? I find I always have to cycle in and out of S/D mode after starting up. Seems to always default to off, even if your Drive Select mode should be in sport.

Drive and Sport on the gearbox (pulling down gear leaver switches between the two). It will only pop and crackle in S mode.
