MRC Gearbox map

Post by Daveperc » Wed Aug 28, 2019 12:33 pm

When I had my Stage 2 map done earlier this year MRC were a couple of weeks away from releasing the corresponding gearbox map. Went back today to get it done, and am well pleased!

Sharper changes and a map on the box aligned with the extra torque available from the engine - car just seems sharper in response to throttle inputs.

Most of my drive home is motorway, but on the short A/B road sections car was even more fun than usual!! :FIREdevil: :FIREdevil:

If you have an MRC map already I'd highly recommend getting the gearbox done too. :boots: :boots:

No wonder they keep winning Gold Tuner awards!

How long you had a car mapped? I mean how many miles you drove while it’s been mapped?

About 10,000 on this one. About 200,000 on the previous C5's.

I know it's sort of "competition" but I had a full official Polestar remap done on my T5 Volvo cross-country a while back which is both engine and gearbox.
It does exactly what you describe MRC do and with an 8-speed auto box and 4WD the difference is really dramatic. Driveability is really so much better.

Funny thing is, in Volvos case, they tweak the whole setup in such a way that the official fuel consumption is unchanged. And of course warranty is unaffected.
The peak power increase isn't that great (below 10% so cheap to insure) but mid-range power and torque are more significantly increased.

Overall Polestar do a really good job and I'm sure MRC do an even better job on an RS6.

I know the fuel consumption on my C5 improved after I had it mapped - actually not entirely surprising as most of the time speed and acceleration are restrained by other traffic etc so actually you need less throttle input to do anything. :beerchug:

Never checked on the C7 - too busy having fun!! :boots:

Good one.

So, you got nothing to add to your questions above? Or are you getting ready to go back to school this week?

I was gutted that they didn't have this ready when I had mine done, as the gearbox manners never matched the engine tune at all imo. By the time they had made this, baby was just about falling out of Woman, life went sideways as expected and then I sold the car last month...

On their website - £600 or £300 if done in conjunction with the engine tune.
