The Mapping coin
Re: The Mapping coin
Anth, you realise Don has a C6 RS6?
Re: The Mapping coin
I was speaking with the only dealer that deals with MTM in UK, I got some MTM 21" wheels, and found out talking with him that my car was on his records about the DMS map
Had a weird engine fault (one air choke blew past its restraint, dunno how to explain lol but found really fast by MRC)
Fuel pump fuse blew (on top of the battery!) found by me, quite impressed lol
For what it is, very reliable *touch wood*
yes RS6 C6, I had said
Didn't mean to hijack thread

Re: The Mapping coin
just got a fault code. one of the "air chokes" on one of the cylinders had "blown" past the guard ( so it was on the wrong side!) Dunno how better to describe it.
MRC stripped and found fault within about 30 mins, very impressive.
they were trying to work out how to fix it, and then "popped" it to the right side, never happened again.
very weird "fault"

Re: The Mapping coin
I'm just going to bump this for 2019.
Any new C7 RS6 remaps happening in 2019 or have happened?
Verdicts and full reviews all welcome on the tuning and the experiences with the company's used. I'm looking to have stage one, fuel pumps, spark upgrades done 2019 possibly Airbox etc but with the C8 looming don't think I'll go to wild. I'll be happy with 900nm / 680bhp also I don't want to obtain every last drop and still want to pull from the lights without Diff woes!
Have DMS sending me some VBOX data this week from other C7s so I can post if anyone's intrested.

My warranty runs out in a few weeks. Renew warranty or remap? Hmmm

Re: The Mapping coin
I`m currently APR stage 1 which was carried out December 2018 and will be going to APR stage 2 end of next week, with some additional bits to fit when they arrive with dyno testing to follow (likely that parts delayed via USA).Anth wrote: ↑Mon Jan 28, 2019 12:15 amI'm just going to bump this for 2019.

Re: The Mapping coin
I have Stage 1 MRC and it transforms the car. Definitely get 100% on the "Overall increase in vehicle fun factor " ! I am already planning on Stage 2 when it goes in for its service next year!
Personally, increasing the speed limiter to me was not/is an issue. May be if I was planning a trip to the Ring and I knew I would get chance to play on the Autobahns I would be checking what my speed limiter was.

Re: The Mapping coin
I'd work on have you needed the warranty? I do know a good remap will absolutely transform the car.

Re: The Mapping coin
Chaps, do the remaps from the various companies do the same thing? Is an APR, MRC, Litchfield,.. stage 1 map exactly the same thing?
Currently running:
18 plate Lamborghini Huracan Performante (5.2l of V10 naturally aspirated craziness)
67 plate RS6 Performance (fully loaded)
66 plate Range Rover Autobiography (for wafting around)
16 plate Mini Cooper S convertible (lots of fun but rather skittish when thrashed)
Favourite car ever owned:
1971 Citroen DS21 - The Goddess (pure art on wheels)

Re: The Mapping coin
i'm curious to know how economy is affected under normal driving conditions with a map, do you still retain 4cyl mode?
Re: The Mapping coin
I would say each one is very different. Yes, they do the same thing in terms of raising HP and torque, but the way they get there can be very different and produce wildly different results, especially in torque and in many cases it depends what you spend. Some companies simply load a generic map they've built over time and say that's it, others take a lot more care and create an individual map for your car on a rolling road etc. Some companies are loved by some, hated by others. Some will charge you if the remap ever needs reloading, others will do it for free. The big boys, APR, MRC etc. provide reliable solid maps, but they're not the most adventurous by a long shot and often the smaller companies take much more care and precision. Anyway, that's my opinion of course, I'm sure there'll be otherszappy-chops wrote: ↑Mon Jan 28, 2019 11:12 amChaps, do the remaps from the various companies do the same thing? Re: The Mapping coin
Yes 4 cylinder mode is still available - I've seen it when slowing down

Re: The Mapping coin
Who would you go with Mike if you made the plunge and went for it? I do here good things about MRC. DMS have aways been very good with service on my last cars, very helpful.

I agree Dave, although I guess the gamble increases on the smaller outfits there's that many of them these days. The 911 remap wasn't actually done on the RR was a sent to me by DMS but it did transform the car to the point I would struggle to have a stock car, I had a demo when mine was having the breaks done and the diffrence going back to stock was mind blowing

Hello mate. What is the figures on your APR stage 1? How did you find it comparing with stock as you've only just had toy stage 1, and reasons for stage 2, do you feel like you just need more power and have the bug?

Re: The Mapping coin
I'd go to MRC. I've used them previously and have no reason to not use them again. I don't think there is anyone better (perhaps some others are equal though). There are cheaper, there are shorter booking in times, there are better with emails, but I've always found them responsive enough and worth the waiting times and willing to pay the extra.
Their remap on the B7 RS4 was leagues above anyone else's. Not necessarily in terms of power figures but made it so much more enjoyable to drive and had some nice little features that many other companies were missing.
most importantly, I believe they know their way round these cars so we'll and could find any issues should something go wrong.
