i'm paying monthly for the warranty so I can knock it on the head..
In that case it's a no-brainer - cancel the warranty and get the car up to MRC! :FIREdevil:

Enjoy!!

MRC just carried out 10K Service, Gearbox Service (Oil Change), and both Diff oils last week for me. Without looking at the bill I think it come to between £1700 and £1800. I thought Audi Stealers in the past had said the gearbox was sealed for life? Guessing they have changed their mind if they are now willing to do a service on it?

I'm certain the work quoted by the dealer and that carried out by MRC must be different.

First, MRC labour rates are about 2/3 Audi rates.

Secondly for roughly the same jobs on a recent quote from MRC there is around £1000 in oil and parts (ex VAT) though that does include £330 for the NGK plugs.

Below was what MRC charged.

10K Service and Inspection - 2 Hours Labour
Gearbox Service - 3 Hours Labour
Front Diff Service - 1.5 Hours Labour
Rear Diff Service - 1.5 Hours Labour

Total Labour - 8 Hours (8 x £75 - £600 Labour)

£845 was for major service. Plugs, filters, oil and final drive oil. Seems steep but not if you compare it against MRC?!

All of the above is pointless if i'm going to stage 2. I imagine id be using a better oil suggested by MRC, does any one know what that might be ? Also do you retain cylinder shutdown when mapped? I know i'm not in this for economy, just curious to know how economy is affected.

What does "Final Drive Oil" mean?? Is it the front diff, rear diff, or both, and do they change the oil or merely check and top up??

Unless you are really clear on what work is actually being quoted you can't possibly compare the price of the work!

MRC quote Audi Longlife3 Oil and LL8 Gearbox Oil. They won't use anything less spec that Audi recommend, of that I am certain.

If you honestly believe that you are going to get better value from an Audi dealer than from MRC then go ahead - it will free up workshop space for the rest of us!! :drink:

The Audi quote wouldn't have included the gearbox oil change as they say its not a service item.

I went into Aylesbury Audi yesterday to confirm with service what’s included and to drop off my mums TTS.

The price they quoted me was actually £746, that’s not bad for a major service at the stealers ?

That doesn’t include the gearbox oil change, that’s an extra £280 which is still cheaper than what I was quoted by MRC.

For anyone interested Ayelsbury Audi are really on the ball in my opinion, they fitted my cat back milltek free of charge after they made a mistake ordering the wrong part for a warranty claim I had.

I travel the extra distance to Avoid Oxford Audi who have let me down beyond belief in the past.

Are you sure you are being quoted including parts/fluids?? The gearbox takes 9 litres of LL8 which I see Opie are quoting £266.95, and I doubt that a dealer will undercut them by much.

If I assume say £250 for the oil, then there is £30 for labour in the price you quote - which is something less than 15 mins to do a complete gearbox oil change!!!!!

I know these guys are fast, but I doubt if you can get the oil to drain out in that time!! :FIREdevil:

Anyway - good luck!!

Am I missing something here? Audi have always refused to do a gearbox oil change on the RS6 (C7) as they claim it is a sealed item. I'm not convinced they have any idea what they are telling you; it just doesn't add up.

Granted they did say it's not a service item, however they said they would do it.

I asked the service assistant to check with the workshop manager, and yes the price is all in. The service manager said they are really pushing to keep people in S/RS to keep coming back once their warranty is up, by heavily reducing labour / discounting parts.
