Hi Guys,

The cold mornings have started and the windscreens are covered in frost. I'm not going to stand there scratching the windscreen free of frost or spraying a can of deicer before work. Instead, I'm going to turn the engine on and then have a shower while hoping my car hasn't been stolen.

I have tried turning the car on, then exiting and locking the car from the outside - doesn't work.

Could I do the following:

1) Turn the engine on and take the keys with me back into the locked house. Then when a thief steels the car, would the car cut out at the point at which it realises there are no keys on-board?

2) In a previous post, someone mentioned an aftermarket auxiliary heater. Did we determine this didn't exist for the RS6?
If the engine is on and you drive off with the key you will get an out of range warning on the dashboard but the car will continue to run. Won't restart again though. Not sure about stop / start as mine is always turned off.
Yep, it will run forever, which on of our MK gang accidentally put to the test in their A8! His wife and him drove somewhere, the driver (and key) got out, and the other person drove the car off, got to their destination, and realised they had no key!

And yes Ford had a version that was very widely used, our 1998 Ford Focus (one of the very first, now long gone) even had it.
It goes back further than that. My 1989/90 Ford Sierra Sapphire had it.
