Eibach pro setup
Eibach pro setup
Hi,
I am thinking of going for the eibach pro setup in my 1999 S4 which includes eibach pro dampers(modified sachs i think) and eibach pro spring kit.
I want to go for maximum comfort and just lower a little.
Roads are not to good going too and from work so dont want a harsh ride.
I read someware that the Quattro Gmbh suspention kit is made up of eibach and sachs parts so would this setup be the same or similar to the Quattro Gmbh kit except for the anti roll bars?
Also would the pro kit lower the car as it says 20mm for the S4 but is that 20mm from the standard A4 or 20mm from the audi sports suspention which is on the S4?

Dampers and springs my experience.
If you mean the RS4 GMBH set up, I am "reliably informed" this set up is very hard indeed, harder than H&R coilovers.
Stock RS4 is softer than both, but after much playing around, one of the comfiest options is to fit H&R coilovers, BUT set the ride height low, this is the key point: - with a lower ride height the ride is more compliant as you are reducing the spring rates and increasing the damping, which is what you want for crap UK roads.
I have to travel on one of, if not the worst A roads in the UK, my ride height is low and I am running 19inch wheels with 35 profile tyres, the car is firm but not jarring, and I am not at all young as I used to be.
Sound like the stock RS4 set up us is what you want, but it will probably cost!.

RE: Dampers and springs my experience.
So is the eibach setup harder than the H&R coilovers as i am led to belive the Eibach setup keeps the comfort levels up.
Maybee i just need to go out in an S4 with H&R coilovers as some say they are harsh and other say they are ok.
They are also a little out of my price range unless i get some from germany.

If your budget is tight, you might want to consider used rs4 suspension. I manged to get springs, dampers and arb's for £50 from ebay! totally transformed the handling and stance of the car
Tomorrow is another day

Before you go down that route, ask flashyg on here if he still has his for sale. You could also try grizz.

I had a ride in Jeffw's car at CC last year. The RS4 suspension is much, much better than the standard S4 stuff.
A good balance of upgrade verses ride etc and for buttons compared to coilovers.
Not sure if it was GMBH or what the roll bars were though ? Jeff ?

RE: Dampers and springs my experience.
will it be ok to fit on an S4 saloon as the RS4 would have more weight being an avant.
How would this affect it?
