The no sound has got to be the amp not powering up surely... defo check that first before slicing everything up!

But i read that only the rear speakers are powered from the amp ? Or connected from the amp ? Meaning I should at least have sound from something in the front ?
Also when everything is plugged in as it appears, the speaker wires going to the head unit are attached to nothing.....

I think you read wrong.

Re: Aftermarket head unit to replace RNS-D
Right, had to change my indicator relay / hazard light switch today so pulled out the head unit at the same time.
My head unit (the pioneer one) has 2x sets of RCAs coming out (front stereo and back stereo), which then connect into the lead I linked earlier in this thread. That does all the sound and i believe the blue lead into that adapter powers up the amp (remote)
That adapter will only fit on one plug on the original loom.
Does that help? I do have some photos but its a bit of a rats nest

I think yours sounds very different to mine. The block that plugs into the back of my stereo has all the regular speaker wires.
I do have a couple of RCA outs, but they are to directly feed an amp. I see no signs of any RCA leads behind my dash at all.
This block on the left is the main one from the Audi head unit which I assume contains all the speaker wires, but the adapter kit I bought, which was linked in this thread also has nothing that appears to attach to it with enough cables to feed any of the speakers.

I'm pretty sure it's not standard and has been messed around with. I'm going to have another look tomorrow as long as the weather is nice, but then I think I will have to get someone who knows what they are doing to finish it off

Re: Aftermarket head unit to replace RNS-D
That's correct. If my memory's right, you need this connector, which plug into the pair of black connectors you've got. One runs the amp (the blue wire you can see in the pic runs the amp alongside the RCA plugs), and the other runs the main unit.

That is the Kit I bought, which was meant to do the job.
I may try the one you have as it's only a tenner.....
Appreciate the advice

Re: Aftermarket head unit to replace RNS-D
There's no RCS lead I can see in that. The pioneer only outputs to the amp via RCA.

Re: Aftermarket head unit to replace RNS-D
Does anyone know off hand which wire is the power for the AMP ? I'm thinking now that the AMP is not powering as it should....
Re: Aftermarket head unit to replace RNS-D
See Page 12, Blue/White wire - http://catalogs.pioneer-car.eu/Manuals/ ... l/?page=12
And I'm sure you need to the lead I linked to above - no RCA connectors = no power amp inputs.

Re: Aftermarket head unit to replace RNS-D
There should be a white wire coming out of the RNS-D harness to tell the amp to power up.

Re: Aftermarket head unit to replace RNS-D
Thanks guys !
All working now. Was the amp not powering after all !
Where are you guys placing the GPS antenna ? Also how the hell have you got the head unit to sit back in the dash ? The amount of wires now is insane !

Re: Aftermarket head unit to replace RNS-D
It was a fiddle. Drop the glovebox down (and fit the gps antenna on top of it). And while down, you can reach in and massage the wires back so they sit tidily.

Yeah that sounds like a good idea. GPS is fine in there I take it ? No signal issues ?
Android auto also tells me it won't work unless I put the parking brake on, sonibhuess I need to ground out the brake wire from the unit to get it to work ?
