Drc issue: front offside shock absorber has a minor leaking
Hi,
Drc issue: front offside shock absorber has a minor leaking but the garage said its not a time to replace because still good condition and the drc is allright. My question is: do i need to buy billstein or just trying to fix this issue? To be honest I like the DRC because I have a sport plus system and its working perfect. Secondly do you know someone who can change and recharge the system? Iv been told that just front offside absorber cost with labour 900£
Thanks for help

That’s the issue, £900 for one corner, vs £1400 for all 4 bilsteins. The purest will say DRC but after changing them more than once financially it makes sense to do coil overs. They still ride well on coil overs, in fact I think my B16s ride better.

b14 to buy are less than £900-fine for the road
a few hours gets them fitted -then alignment
or set koni/bilstein shocks uses your own springs-almost zero labour on rear[just a pair rear shocks to change on rear] front is same labour as coilovers
pros are its cheaper and as it sits at the same height so no re-alignment needed[wouldnt go amiss with a check though] as an older bloke the height remaining the same is a bonus
cons-not sure, never tried it myself but some folk have and i havent read any negatives as yet

Minor leak on mine too..= h&r monotube in garage waiting to be fitted

Re: Drc issue: front offside shock absorber has a minor leaking
there is a supplier on here [ comments on a few of the shock threads- i would pm him] the bilstein and koni are pretty generic but you have to check the weight loadings and get the quattro rated itemsGary(rs4)87 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 16, 2018 11:18 pmarthur.d wrote:b14 to buy are less than £900-fine for the road

£900 for a corner sounds a bit much to me. A replacement shock is £214+VAT, fitting a single damper should not be more than a couple of hours labour, and £220 Audi charged me to recharge the system. Still not cheap, but £600-650 would be closer to the mark.

Just had b14s fitted after a damper failure, very pleased with em, £830 from Demon Tweeks
