Picking car up after crash repair-need a bit of advise

Post by Jayjay101 » Wed Dec 27, 2017 7:07 pm

Hi guys
So a few months ago a girl in a c2 hit me on drivers side front -damage being new wing-wing mirror cap, repair and respray bumper and re paint bonnet and something going on with some of the suspension arms as they were clicking when turning the wheel and it’s taken ages to sort but looks like I’m due to pick it up friday(bet it’s longer!) I’m a bit worried as when the guy came out he didn’t even know the wings were alloy and they keep staying there waiting on a badge when the badge was fine!!!-am I right in thinking that if I’m not happy with the repair I can refuse to take the car till it’s done right?!

That sucks ass. Was she cute at least?

You're lucky they didn't write it off.

Mine-was lucky really as she hit me pretty hard! I thought she had done a lost worse before I got out the car to look-when the guy looked the car over at the repair place he was looking to replace everything! The wing for a start could have just been dent repaired in my eyes!

Is there a big dent on the wing? Looks okay from pics you’ve put up.

I’m pretty sure that if you get to body Shop and the work is not up to a good standard then you are well within your rights to refuse to take back the car, maybe the insurers would have to send out an assessor to look at the work too as at the end of the day they are picking up the tab.

You don't have too take the car at all if you're not happy with it .
You should be given a copy of the jobcard for the work that's been done . On that will have all the work that's been carried out .
Have a good look at the paint work around the area that's been repaired , open the bonnet and check for hard paint edges on the wing edge and bonnet that haven't been polished out , make sure there's no overspray on the glass , check the window frame fitment as this will have been out as I assume they'll have gone through the door with paint for colour .
Even if you get home and you find somthing your not happy with , ring them and tell them . If they don't want too play ball , mention you'll take it up with your Insurance company.
I assure you , you'll change there tune very quickly .
Cheers Al

Thanks mate I’ll report back when I pick it up -be shocked if it’s Friday like they say as they have put the date back twice!

Check for missing bolts and fasteners, too. Also clips, etc. These things always get lost and are a pain to source.

Also check for lacquer drips. I see this a lot and it's often not immediately obvious.

Don't feel hurried or pressured. Take your time looking at the panels.

Also check your window switch as there fiddly too get out and easily damaged
