We don’t know the full story, if the car is on finance that’s another consideration.
Agreed there will be cheaper ways of getting repaired but it’s going to be considerably devalued and given volume of cars in the market attract lemon valuation.

Agreed... was initially told around 40k for a new engine, with components and labour, when my valve spring broke in my pre F/L... fortunately for Audi it only cost them a 10k repair.
