Where is Ard-Bob when you need him?
He's another one who said "that's it, I'm done on here", but of you check his username, he's on here pretty much every day.

Nah, it was that RS4 nutcase I was thinking of. This year has flown by, could have sworn last time I checked he'd been on in that week.

Amazing, you also had a separate 'I've just mapped my car' thread on ph too! What's your motto? 'Zero fucks given?'

Not sure I believe any of this to be honest.

£40k for a new engine? Bo*locks.

No details about the failure, no pictures of the smashed engine block, no posts about where can I find a replacement engine. No questions about what to do in the event of an engine failure (last thing you want to do is take it to Audi). The story of the car being standard but yet there being a thread where he’s just had it tuned. Did he forget about this thread and the search function on a forum?

I’m calling major bullshi* at pretty much it all. I very much doubt there is an engine failure. It’s for attention, scaremongering, cars been sold or stolen etc and this is just one over imaginative story. Sounds all a bit fake to me.

If not, please post pictures of the failed engine block and start a thread looking for a new engine or the contact details of an engine builder. If it’s genuine, how do you know it needs a full new engine and not just a strip down repair?

All we have is it was badly misfiring and that there was a burning smell from the starter motor.

A missfiring engine does not need to be replaced, repaired probably, not replaced. As long as the block is sound and in one piece most things can be resolved by engine rebuild specialists at about a tenth of the cost you’ve been quoted. Why would you continue to drive a missfiring engine to failure and why wouldn’t you post a thread on the forum asking for advice about misfires and what to do?

Nothing makes any sense, everything you’ve done or not done is illogical.

This is all made up to me but no idea why?

Why would you even take a tuned but still in warranty car to Audi with an engine failure?

You just wouldn’t.

The £40k came from me. When mine went pop in June it needed a new engine two new turbos, starter motor, charge cooler plus various sundry item plus very many hours of Audi labour. I can’t speak for this latest post.

These were the main costs and final amount but that doesn’t include best part of 90hrs of Audi labour and a few other bits which came after this invoice.

Yes, I can imagine it heading that direction. My RS4 engine which was being done at the same time as your RS6 cost £19k for just the engine alone, manifolds and ancillaries were swapped over from the broken one. Interestingly they stamp the new engine with the old engine number.

Crazy price even if it is internal Audi warranty work.

I’d be taking mine to Race Developments for rebuild if the block was still in one piece. If not then I’d be searching the breakers yards for a used engine at a fraction of the costs that have been mentioned.
