New RS6 arrived - error on dash

Post by Moonmonkey831 » Tue Nov 21, 2017 7:44 pm

Hi there,

RS6 has now arrived and I picked it up at the weekend. Very happy so far - just wish it was better weather to enjoy it a bit more.

Anyhow I've done 120 miles and now slightly disappointed that I now have a warning come on the dash saying "ACC and Audi Braking Guard unavailable." Typically this is after the dealer phoned me today to check in to see how the car was doing.

The manual says this seems quite fundamental and needs to go to the dealer:

"ACC and Audi braking guard: not available
The system cannot detect objects reliably and will be deactivated. The sensors are out of alignment or defective. The functions of the pre sense system may also be impaired. Drive to a qualified workshop and have the fault rectified."

Anyone else had this error before? So much for Quality assurance checks!

Thanks!

Speed limit display and lane assist both throwing errors this morning now - so assuming its the camera unit :-(

Silly question but there isn't a lump of mud or a leaf over the camera?

Hopefully just needs a quick calibration which the dealer can do in-house.

Thanks guys

Yeah checked for leaves and dirt etc - all clear.

At the dealer now and the master tech is saying its a software update - something to do with if it doesn't get a GPS signal its starts to throw up these errors.

Hopefully as you say a reset and a re-calibration and I'm good to go - fingers crossed!

ACC and braking guard use the radars that look like fog lights not the front camera.

Lovely choice of car. Looks great.

Loosing GPS signal? That's a load of service advisor BS if you ask me. The system is not an advanced type of autonomous driving one, which could utilise that kind of data.

Calibration of the system takes quite a while. Sounds like they did just a quick check over, cleared the fault codes, and then sent you on your way. If it happens again, call out Audi roadside assist and get it recovered to the dealership. That will focus the dealership in getting the problem resolved, as it's an Audi KPI area.

New RS6 arrived - error on dash

Post by Moonmonkey831 » Wed Nov 22, 2017 6:55 pm

Thanks all for the positive comments, I really like the colour combo, not seen one in the flesh before so am happy with the result and certainly feels more of a head turner than my RS4 was.

All working again now and faults cleared. They did do some sort of software update to resolve it, and watched the master tech do it, took about an 90 mins to load the software and recalibrate. Agree the GPS thing smelt a bit like horse <beep>, but who knows.

Main thing is it’s all back to good now.

Cheers!
