I don't believe that applies to the RS6 / 5HP24A transmissions. I certainly have never done it and over the years my battery has been disconnected many times.

There is, it seems, a procedure to reset the TCU by holding the accelerator pedal down or something, but I can't recall off hand what it is and the times I've tried it, it has never appeared to do anything.

Also, you can test the kickdown using the Vagcom. IIRC, you can feel button resistance when you put the pedal all the way down.

Can't remember the communication protocol offhand. If you connect to the ECU with the Vagcom it will be displayed on the screen.

The throttle body will adapt itself if the ECU determines that it's necessary if you turn the ignition to position 2 and don't start the engine or touch the pedal for about 10 seconds.

Won't hurt to force a TBA if you want to. Don't be surprised if it makes no difference though.

Guys just a heads up, seems I have a revo remap and after contacting them if a battery is disconnected for a length of time the map reverts back to stock. £40 from revo garage for a reset.... what do you think ?

If you leave the battery constantly connected for 6 months, ask them if the map upgrades to an MRC map. You should ask them exactly how long it takes for the map to go back to standard? Then tell them you were just under that time and think you may have half the map left.
I've never heard that a map will remove itself if the battery is disconnected for a certain amount of time.

Yes, got to agree with you as it does sound a bit far fetched but this really is a different car after the service. I mean it's just not the same as before, not only is the power down but the gear box is changing differently. I used to be able to drive in 5th at 30mph and it's deffinetly not doing that, also in the advert when I bought the car it said it had a revo switchable map ??? I have the printout from revo which shows going from 480bhp to 520 bhp.

How is it switchable ? I think Revo ( certainly early ones) where on a flash drive ( of some kind) that you could unload/reload to the car at leisure.

Ahoooga i have no idea. All i know is that it can be switched on and off but there is nothing in the obd slot. The car was on the plate R5VOX which was on here, maybe the owner might be able to help if still on here.
