Back in the gang !

Post by jbyrne » Thu Nov 16, 2017 11:55 pm

Hi from Ireland - It's been 6 years or so but I'm back in a RS6. I had an 2003 model in black, but sold it in 2011.
( emigrated for a couple of years in 2010 due to the recession here & the RS was parked up in the garage, so made sense to let it loose ).
The urge to get another was always there, but it had to be a plus in sprint blue !
One popped up on Autotrader 3 weeks ago & I couldn't resist :biggrin2:

It's new home for the winter....

It was great getting re-acquainted with the beast on the drive home ( London - Holyhead - Dublin - Cork ) :FIREdevil:
116,000 miles with full history & stacks of paperwork to back up same.
Pretty much standard apart from PSS9 coilovers ( need raising a small bit tho' )
Due a full service including timing belt, no harm to do a gearbox service too, that'll keep me busy over the winter :thumb:
No doubt I'll have a few questions for ye once I start getting my hands dirty

Cheers,
John.

And I thought I was the only person in the Republic crazy enough to pay €1800 a year in road tax to have the pleasure of driving one🍀

best colour too! Black interior will be much easier to maintain than the silver, too.

Cheers Lads, yeah the car tax here is fairly batshit alright ! But before I can tax it I'll have to handover approx. €4 to €5k to put an Irish registration plate on it :drink: !
( Vehicle registration tax - another name for Import duty even-though we're all in the EU !! :bash: )
@ jockthedog - Has the silver alcantara interior, any tips on how to clean maintain ?

When did you move back here?

Can you get an exemption? Thankfully it worked for me

Screen must have a fair bit of darkening!
I just replaced the alcantara on my front seats as they looked so worn and dirty. See my recent thread for details.

Thanks for that Steveo, but I moved back in 2012 so not an option for me unfortunately.

Will do
A couple of interior pics from the advert, just needs a good clean - Raceglaze Alcantara Cleaner is good stuff apparently...
