Was it that much? I remember it being a bit on the heavy side, but don't recall needing the engine hoist - and I'm no weight lifter either - more of a racing snake.

Yeah it takes two people to lift it into a back of a car. Made a dolly up for mine out of wood and some wheels which was good for shifting it around. Just put it straight onto the dolly when disconnecting from engine and then transferred onto a pallet on my own since it’s the right height.

Re: Gearbox reconditioned
I had to get the thing from my workshop to a trailer, and nobody was around to help.
Used a pallet as a kinda ramp, as the workshop is up a step, and I'd also made a dolly which was very handy indeed.

And then having dropped the pallet off at the garage, found out that this was the wrong fecking trousers and had to repeat the process in reverse.
It's still in my garage.
And if you can dead lift one of these, you're more of a racing anaconda!
I'm a racing worm and I can only just get a B5 6speed above my waist. 80kg. Still a lot more than I weigh tho!

Re: Gearbox reconditioned
The workshop was once someone else's band practice room and as such has double plasterboard and insulation all round and yes, some very oily carpet on the floor.
I do intend to rip it up eventually and replace it with plastic like you see on the left.
Best part was it came with double sockets every 3 feet round the walls. Walls which are also covered with carpet!
Means I can turn up the amp to 11 and not bother anyone.
