Mapped cars

Post by rtd » Fri Oct 27, 2017 6:26 am

I’d like to hear opinions/thoughts of owners of mapped cars. I’m considering remapping my car to around 680BHP and 900NM. My car is a daily driver and has just done 26k in the last year.

What’s the map like to live with on a day to day basis, is it a night and day difference over a standard car and any cons?

MRC or bust.

Just don’t grumble if you blow something up and warranty work is refused.

As above.

Other tuners are available, but if i was having any Audi RS mapped, MRC would be where i'd be heading.

I know I will get hammered for this, but I don't really get the whole mapping thing given the warranty risk, on a car that kicks out silly BHP and torque numbers in standard guise, is it not quick enough for our crowded, potholed roads?

Nice that you have reputable tuner in your area

I'm fairly sure RTD won't be using DMS after his C6 issues with them ;)

Don’t swallow the power pill and act like a sheep!
Who are you going to call when it all goes wrong !?
It’s all a calculated risk, I went more local this time, based on convenience and previous experience.

What does bemuse me in the mod and map world is what people omit to tell you,
I wonder why they pretend things don’t go wrong and hate to admit it?
Then when some issues arise you find out that they have already suffered the issue ?
It’s like a mate giving you a bum steer or is it the more the merrier ?
lots and lots, no time served. It’s gets funnier, from yesteryears cars to ones due in months :piss:

Perhaps there needs to be a form the tuner signs ?

I can use the car just like I do normally.
I don't need to use specific petrol/lube etc.
I am aware that by tuning the car I may invalidate the warranty.
Should it fail you will agree to use a company to inspect the root cause and should it be related to the tune (underfueling for example) the tuner owns the replacement/restoration.
Other statements like this highlighting the implications/responsibilities of both parties.
Unless something is done it remains a troubled situation.

I chose to have the tune set to 99ron only. Stage 2 can be run without, but who would put the lower in anyway?
I’m happy with the balance I’ve acheived this time, new car, the agent/installer and Revo accept responsibility for the tune. Revo created it and the agent that chooses to use Revo installed it.

Not all circumstances are the same, tuners are in a difficult position with a car previously tuned elsewhere and damage may have already occurred.

What issues were those? Do you have a link as I'm curious to know what you are referring to Ian?
