Need help with some DTCs

Post by Gav66 » Tue Oct 24, 2017 8:41 pm

Well got my VCDS from Glendan... just plugged it in and had a look at what was going on which to be honest I didn't really think there would be, lo and behold I have some error codes. Any help with this would be great, had a look on Ross Tech but looking for laymen terms. I am a quick learner but just need it explained more. :bash:

Hydrolic engine mount curcuit open. Probably needs a replacement, no biggie.
Clear the codes, drive around, do some WOT. Rescan.
No matter where you go, there you are.

Cheers bam_bam, so this regulates the stiffness of the mount ?

MAF is a common issue, and could easily produce the 3rd error too. Easy fix, if not that cheap.

Just change them as a pair, I've just done mine got them from TPS for £160 exchange the pair. Could of got them slightly cheaper online but I've been burnt before with dodgy MAFs.

Don't forget he recently had issues with lumpy running after airbox wasn't fitted correctly. These DTC could be from that and there might be nothing wrong with the MAFs. Do what bam said and clear the faults and see what comes back.

Cleared codes then went for a run...lol cheers Shopp, just the engine mount one still there. This mite sound stupid but when my car had it's service and came up with the warning lights on, could the mechanic have switched the remap off ? Was remapped by previous owner, gearbox aswell and when I purchased it he said the maps could be switched on and off. Now I've had a chance to drive it it seems like the box is changing gears up and down differently. The battery was changed during the service could this just be the gearbox learning my style of driving, sorry if that sound stupid. Could he have switched the maps off ??
Definitely higher revs before changing and changing down a lot quicker.

ECU, yes. There are some maps that are switchable with various switch combos. Not TCU though. If you are seeing different gearbox behaviour then that's weird.

It's more likely that your boots are heavier now. :)

The MAF sensors input data into the ECU and the engine load calc is derived from that data I think. Then the engine load calc will be used by the TCU on shift characteristics. So could it be that when the airbox had been refitted properly, the load calc for the engine was more accurate, and then the shifts changed accordingly.

Just been looking through ross tech wiki and found that if the battery has been disconnected or replaced that you should reset the kick down settings again.
Anyone done this and could this be why my box is different to what it was ?
