Front number plate removal

Post by fusion1966 » Fri Oct 20, 2017 10:07 am

I’ve got some private plates to put on my RS6 however I am struggling with removing the front plate

Looks like the number plate is fixed to an impossible to remove clip on back plate which is mounted onto the grill. The number plate itself seems to be screwed on from the back and I can’t see any way to gain access

I’m sure people have overcome this and I’m probably being thick as I don’t have a practical bone in my body!

All advice is most welcome as I can’t drive the car now as I’ve taken the back one off first stupidly lol

The front plate is usually stuck with double sided tape to the mount, you have to remove the plate with a trim tool or screwdriver.

Post a photo so we can see.

Fishing wire is a great way to remove stuck on number plates and badges without damaging anything.

Best apply some heat on the plate first and then slowly work around with the fishwire...

I've attached my with some super strong velcro so it can come on and off relatively easily.
