A lot of you will have heard of the NC500 which routes around the North Coast of Scotland our version of Route 66. Well during my trip I stayed a night at the Smoo Cave Hotel Durness.
Highly recommended, great food staff and accommodation.
Unfortunately the next morning I had noticed damage to my near side rear wing. I have cameras installed so on reviewing the footage it revealed the act was deliberate carried out by a member of the armed forces stationed at the Cape Wrath area. The person in question is a bomb disposal service man. This happened at 1.43am Sunday morning. He was urged on by his mates shouting "f**k the RS5 followed by two loud bangs and then cheers from the on lookers. The hotel owner on reviewing the footage contacted his bar staff whom confirmed the only customers at that time were the bomb disposal. I had the upmost respect for our armed forces but now this has sadly gone. Yes they have a tough job yes it's stressful but nothing gives them or anyone the right to vandalise someone's pride and joy. I worked hard offshore for over 25 years to purchase my dream car. Anyway enough said...evidence is with the police and a letter written to the MOD. Obviously they never noticed the help for heroes Sticker on my window which has now been binned in utter disgust.

Re: Car Vandalism
Very annoying and totally disrespectful, but don't tar all our armed forces with the same brush just because one small group can't handle a peach schnapps. If it was a guy that worked offshore that had done the damage would that mean you wouldn't respect anyone that worked offshore anymore? Would that then also mean nobody should respect you?

^ Hear, hear.
Although I feel for your disdain, you must remember that there's more than one (or small group of) individual that works for the forces, most of which I hope would live by the values the forces teach them. I'd hope their sergeant will be giving them an utter dressing down and the damage will be paid for as a start - I don't think the RAF? (I believe its a RAF base there) would be able to let it lie.
I know it's hard not to be prejudice especially with whats happened, but I hope your letter doesn't take the same approach. I don't think that would be the best way of addressing the situation - I would want whomever I was addressing my letter to, to be on my side. Tarring them all with the same brush will only serve to get their back up. There are some amazing people in the forces (not that i'm a serviceman!), but I do agree, some are tapped (I've see Paras do some very questionable things!).
Me and a friend were once attacked, yes attacked! By 7 CID officers when I was 16. They were all on their way to raid a house where some 'suspected' armed robbers were hiding out. Turns out these armed robbers had turned over a Shop in Plymouth and amongst the loot was a haul of Stussy gear. My friend was wearing a Stussy t-shirt and I kid you not, they got it into their head we were involved! I was assaulted (elbowed to the ground), kneed to the back, searched and accused of drug dealing by one of them because I had a Caramac wrapper in my pocket!
I'll be honest my confidence in the police was pretty damaged, however time has taught me a very important lesson, as the majority of Police are there to do good and have done for me since.
Very interested to hear the outcome buddy, I hope it all works out.

The issue isn't really the Army, it's just pissed up young men in groups. As for Jay's experience of plod, that sounds about right, we received regular beatings from her majesty's finest as teenagers too. They may be a more progressive organisation now though, you never really see them other than on motorways or shopping in Morrisons.
