Can any exhaust 'installer' install a Milltek
Can any exhaust 'installer' install a Milltek
Hi everyone,
My first post on here so apologies if it's a stupid question although that would keep me consistent.
I purchased a non-resonated Milltek cat back exhaust last month and I want to get it fitted. The nearest Milltek 'approved' centre is 70 miles from me which obvs makes a 140 round trip. Is this exhaust so specialised that the boys down Kwik fit couldn't install it? Just wondering whether any reputable exhaust installer can fit this with relative ease?
Many thanks
JUST TO ADD:
I haven't gone for a re-map, just an exhaust.

Cant see any problem with that. I had mine installed by a none-Milltek "exhaust garage" . A 120 minutes job.

It's not a hard job but i wouldnt trust kwik fit to even check my tyre pressures, find a decent local mechanic to do it for you
Re: Can any exhaust 'installer' install a Milltek
I recommend Fourie Fabrication based in Banbury, Oxfordshire. He used to work for Doug @ MRC until recently when he decided to setup his exhaust business. He's doing jobs mainly on Audi's and gets alot of his business through MRC, so if they trust him then you know he's at the top of his game.

I wouldn't waste Stuarts time to fit a milltek. If you want an amazing custom exhaust then he is your guy but to fit a milltek go somewhere else.Farravi wrote: ↑Fri Aug 25, 2017 1:31 pmI recommend Fourie Fabrication based in Banbury, Oxfordshire. And as stated I would avoid kwik fit too.
However, is this exhaust a cat back only system or full system with decat? If it's a full system then you will need a remap, if it's cat back only then anyone with a ramp and spanner can do it.
Re: Can any exhaust 'installer' install a Milltek
Easy enough job. Did mine myself took about 3 hours. Just make sure they don't try the "oh we need to lower the subframe" one. No need to touch anything. One nut per side is tricky to get at but far from impossible

Hi there. It's a cat back system.MikeFish wrote: ↑Fri Aug 25, 2017 5:24 pmI wouldn't waste Stuarts time to fit a milltek. Re: Can any exhaust 'installer' install a Milltek
Got quoted £170 by a 'reputable' exhaust/tyre centre. Tbh, if it's just bolting I'm fairly handy myself but one needs the right equipment to access the underside which I don't have. That being said, when it comes to the car, I'd rather the 'experts' do it than f*** it up myself.
Re: Can any exhaust 'installer' install a Milltek
Thanks but struggling with the 'easy enough' and '3 hours' in the same sentence!

Fitted a Dash cam in my partner's F-Type last week. That was only 3hrs. Piece of piss.

Re: Can any exhaust 'installer' install a Milltek
Surely that price is to supply and fit? Even then it's not that cheap.RS6Mike wrote: ↑Fri Aug 25, 2017 10:11 pmGot quoted £170 by a 'reputable' exhaust/tyre centre. Re: Can any exhaust 'installer' install a Milltek
What has time and degree of difficulty got to do with anything? Given its a big heavy exhaust routed to an exit on either side of the car and I am mega fussy how it fit things, also not trying to be a smart are that stating it's a 30 min job, I think my statement is fair and doable. Could I have done it in less time? Probably but then someone would have slated me for that as well.
Easy enough job, allow 3 hours but doable in 2 hours 38.5 minutes
