Of course I'll unlock if they pull out a machete or a sub-machine gun. However, this will deter the vast majority of thieves, most of them fortunately just want the car without going down the nastier route of maiming people in the process. It's about eliminating risk, you can never completely remove it.

Re: Car security /tracker
Exactly. It cost me £140 and about 3-4 hours of work. Professional thieves can often locate and remove trackers on cars within a very short space of time. Trackers are great and personally I'm totally for them, but I think they're secondary to physical devices like a bollard or a good steering wheel lock.
Re: Car security /tracker
Also gives you a small price of mind you've at least tried to prevent theft.
Of course some piece of <beep> puts a knife or gun to me they can have the keys all day long.
But at least try to deter.

Re: Car security /tracker
Thanks Eddie will have a look
Re: Car security /tracker
My rs4 was kept on my drive way took 12 months and it was spotted by scum
Broke in to my house and took the spare key and off they went
Lucky for me my black jax did its job and they ran off
Black jax don't work on the rs6 but Clifford are working on it
So the ghost is you best bet .
Down side is it don't stop the scum banging you door down
where as black jax allows the car to be stolen to a safe distance to be recovered as mine was .
I garage mine now out of sight and all that plus extra security to put them off

These are the best. http://www.rhinosecurity.co.uk/post-bar ... pic-posts/
One of these behind the car in a garage or, better still, in the entrance to your drive, and they won't bother (unless they kick the door down to get the keys to car and bollard).
Re: Car security /tracker
I found it cheapest on eBay and it cost £130 not £140 as I thought. It's a proper piece of kit, 100x100mm steel, heavy as you like. When that's concreted in, it's not going anywhere.

Unless you have a plasma cutter in your boot....
Re: Car security /tracker
In fact, if they drove up in a JCB, they could pull the bastard out. I'm pretty sure that a JCB would fit up my drive as well, dammit. I'd better dig a damn and erect a drawbridge and hire ex-SAS bodyguards just in case they get through that.
Re: Car security /tracker
So Autowatch Ghost or BlackJax? Which do we choose?
Re: Car security /tracker
Best thing to do is to put some very small switch conected to relays which will cut power to fuel pump. And you can find very very good hidden places in car for this.
So when ever you park your car, you switch off and you are safe 100% that nobody cant drive away with your car. Only possible solution is to drive it on tow truck.
I have it installed on my 2 cars and it is working flawlessly for years.

But your still looking at an insurance claim for the forced entry into car may as well just let them take it and be done with it.Sarac wrote:Best thing to do is to put some very small switch conected to relays which will cut power to fuel pump. All this extra security on the car itself is pointless - unless it has been highly modified where you can't recover all your investment back from the insurance company.
Beefing up security around the house is good but on the car itself can't see the point.

I think it all comes down to personal preference and the fact that some people care more about keeping their own cars than others.rtd wrote: ↑Thu Aug 24, 2017 12:49 pmBut your still looking at an insurance claim for the forced entry into car may as well just let them take it and be done with it.Sarac wrote:Best thing to do is to put some very small switch conected to relays which will cut power to fuel pump.
