Leather colouring

Post by Ajc » Sun Jul 30, 2017 9:00 pm

Has anyone recoloured any parts on there seats ? .
I have mine a really good clean today and I must say they habe come up really really well . It's just a little wear on the bolster that's letting them down now . Rather than getting a section stitched it I was wondering about having it repaired . But don't want it too look crap .
Also has anyone figured a way too clean silver seatbelts ? .
Cheers Al

I've seen leather repair kits where you use a leather filler and some dye and they seem to do a good job. It was something I was looking at as my front seats have a few minor creases. My rear seats are still really good. I guess it's just like painting a car panel in that you need to get a good colour match.

Yeah that's the kind of thing I've seen. It's a flexible filler and a plastic paint almost . I believe I've found the colour code relating too Audi silver . We have a guy that comes into work that could do it . I just didn't know how hard wearing it would be .

You can get the filler in a similar colour to your leather then spray the seats. I can't imagine them being as hardwrwring at original, but with regular treatment it might be okay. I'm currently using dodo juice leather cleaner and treatment. I will be using the filler this summer as well. I've got silver leather too which I think ages the best. When ever I've seen pics of c5 rs6 leather seats, black looks the worse. That's cars with similar mileage to mine which is currently at 110k

I used normal soap a nail brush and a handheld steam cleaner on my old Ford Explorer(don't ask!)seat belts and they came up really well

Liquid leather based in redditch do the best leather dye , we use it on all the supercars that we detail .
I dont have the number handy but i think a google search will find it , just phone them uo and tell them the name of the colour for your leather , or just order matt black if they're black seats . If they don't have your colour in stock then you can send them a headrest or your centre console arm rest and they'll match it for you .

As long as the leather hasn't split then its really easy to do , just dab it on so its nice and wet with a sponge and dry off with a hairdryer .
