Exit Stage Left?

Post by FaisalJ » Sat Aug 05, 2017 1:17 am

The way to save big money on the next car; don't buy new.

There's no getting away from the fact that most car's roughly halve in value every 3-4 years, and it's the depreciation you're paying £1.1k/month for.

From some of the earlier posts - seems the OP has that dissed now.

Good luck with the sale.

1100 is a huge sum a month to be paying for the car, don’t blame you trying to get out. £62.5 sounds good to me, with vat and sales costs that’s not a lot of profit for the dealer if the sell at 70k ish.

If you still love it buy a early model at 50k ish, its the same car at the end of the day.

£62k?! Take it

I guarantee you that is the max you will realise privately IF you are lucky, and everyday it's worth less and less.

Yep, as said, your monthly payments are your depreciation, gone. And your net loss on buyer vs. Sell is your deposit up front you didn't put in, gone.

Just get out now, before you sell for £5x

Given that you can lease a new RS6 PE for less than £1100/month, and you can lease a new S5 for less than £500/month I would say sell it and lease something. It seems messy trying to get out of negative equity by switching in to a new car. You are just pushing the problem in front of you.

No not yet, it's now about to go live (from tomorrow) at 'Sell Your Car With Us' in Buntingford Herts. They sold my C6 RS6 Saloon pretty quickly before (and saloons don't sell well I found) so am confident they'll do the same. They saw it today and it's already got a viewing later on so I'm optimistic it's going to shift soon.

Apparently not, but it has been reduced £4k, even though he was very specific about it being strictly no offers etc at the start when it was £68.5k.

He's been offered £62k from a dealer, but apprantly he's holding out for a private sale at £64.5k.

We've all been there though, bought with our heart rather than our head, and then tried to minimise the hit when reality kicks in! I did it in 2005 when I decided to buy a brand new TVR T350T. Net result, I lost £14k in 9months, and for one of those months it was off the road at the TVR dealer having issues ironed out.

If you read my above reply then it's up for S & R at a place I've used before and who sold my C6 for me and left me with extra ££ in my pocket. Lots of naysayers around here (yourself included) so I'm going to hold off and see how this pans out. Time Will Tell....

Hi, not sure if it's been mentioned earlier on in the thread but have you tried "tootle"? I used it to sell my S4 and got a very reasonable offer. Also Fontain motors may be worth a try, very professional outfit and know their S and RS Audis.
Just a thought, good luck.

£1k or £1500 with their Premium Package. I wouldn't go into a deal blindly, it's going up at £67,990 with them and they are a dealer that offers finance. With my C6 it sold within 2 weeks (and it had been up for sale for a while what with being a Saloon) and I ended up with just under £1k in my back pocket. When my 'loon was struggling to sell privately they pulled it out of the bag (plus I wasn't getting phone calls from idiots) and I came out at a profit. Not saying I'll be coming out with extra fat from it however I'll be having to pay far less to clear the deficit.
Either way even if it goes for less than their asking price a better deal than taking the £62 ish offered from dealers.
As I said-time will tell. As you said before Don when people were having a go at you on a different thread: opinions are like arseholes-everyone has one!
