PS the service from NFU if you ever need them makes their premiums superb value. And I speak from 25 years with them.Markp wrote: ↑Fri Jun 30, 2017 8:02 pmNever got the need for tracker on a modern replaceable car unless insurance demands it. Not sure I would want it back after nicked and (often) damaged. That is what I pay I surance for.
But I can see the value in something very special you or not easily replaced.
When I ran a gorgeous old restored Porker I fitted a Rhino security post behind it. Just don't lose the key....

Re: Getting closer !
A tracker is only as good as the fitter fitting it. Nowadays employed fitters don't get enough time to do a proper job and are too slap happy at fitting them as quick as possible which lead to them being as good as useless. If your gonna have one fitted I'd suggest you go to a very very reputable Company that actually care about the work they do.

Re: Getting closer !
That was discovered, in hindsight, by another new RS6 owner in an earlier/different post, who had only had his car a few weeks, but had it stollen when thieves blipped his Keyless Entry key to gain access to his parked up car and within minutes of driving it away, had located one of the 2 places where Audi technicians can fit the tracker, in their allotted 20 minutes, and had turfed it out onto the roadside, much to his understandable annoyance and frustration!Eddie555 wrote: ↑Fri Jun 30, 2017 8:12 pmA tracker is only as good as the fitter fitting it. You'll find that it was myself that was probably the first to discover that Audi fit them in the 2 allotted places after mine was hijacked and had the Tracker ripped out within 2 mins of watching my car disappear.harrier wrote: ↑Fri Jun 30, 2017 10:17 pmThat was discovered, in hindsight, by another new RS6 owner in an earlier/different post, who had only had his car a few weeks, but had it stollen when thieves blipped his Keyless Entry key to gain access to his parked up car and within minutes of driving it away, had located one of the 2 places where Audi technicians can fit the tracker, in their allotted 20 minutes, and had turfed it out onto the roadside, much to his understandable annoyance and frustration!Eddie555 wrote: ↑Fri Jun 30, 2017 8:12 pmA tracker is only as good as the fitter fitting it. Re: Getting closer !
I for one was paying attention, so thanks again Eddie. As a result only the fitter himself knows where my device might be found. You proved, sadly, that you can't be too careful or trusting. Likewise, Audi's locking wheel bolts only have disapointingly few variations (24 is it?), so fit an additional set of your own (e.g., that come with 1,000 different keys).

Re: Getting closer !
I agree to an extant. What insurance doesn't cover you for is the hours spent modifying, installing stereos, wires, sound deadeing etc. Although the car is insured for mods most companies dont cover the cost of the mods or the time you perosnally spent making the mods.Markp wrote: ↑Fri Jun 30, 2017 8:02 pmNever got the need for tracker on a modern replaceable car unless insurance demands it. I live in hope that the benefit of the tracker is that they catch the scum triggering it following our episode.
