Clutch creaking and loss of pedal travel, sticking

Post by SilverS4 » Tue Jul 18, 2017 11:25 am

Hi,
Has anyone got the definitive answer to the clutch issues?
Mine is like this.
Creaking from pedal that can be felt.
When doing some spirited driving the travel and biting point change, becoming lower. The top couple of inches feel empty.
On occasion when the car is like this the pedal can become slow to return and can be felt to hit the bottom of my foot.

I've read everything from everywhere I can find.
The other point here is the clutch doesn't slip and when the cars driven in normal traffic conditions it feels like a new clutch and behaves like one.

Al a loss what to do.

forgot to put, I located the source of the creaking, an odd spring that compresses at the mid point of the travel. I ended up spraying it with deblock and then brushing some grease on the sprayed joints that had now shut up.

But this still doesn't fix the loss of travel and the sticking

Common problem that a number of owners have experienced.
The clutch return pipe isn't up to the job.

I replaced the clutch return pipe & slave cylinder when I was getting the sticky pedal.
Unfortunately problem still exists so will be getting a new clutch soon which will hopefully cure the issue.
I would be inclined to change the clutch flywheel & return pipe all at the same time.

Did you fit the updated pipe from Robnic?

No, got the uprated part number from here and my mechanic got it from TPS I believe.

I never fitted the Robnic uprated pipe either, but have had no issues with sticking clutch pedal since changing clutch, DMF, master and slave plus all ancillary components. I did fit a new OE Audi return pipe.
