123456

Post by Steveo » Fri Jul 07, 2017 10:49 am

I've owned mine for just over 3 years now and it has been a great car. I bought it from Spitelli on this forum and it has been well looked after by all the previous owners and by Stuart at http://camspeconline.com . It ticks all the boxes for me. Fun to drive, bags of power, loads of room in it and looks great too.

I have taken it to the French Alps for cycling holidays with 4 bikes on the roof, 4 people in the car and the boot full of camping equipment and it just cruises along.

It's also been to Flanders with 4 bikes inside the car and 4 people with luggage for a weekend. There are some great long and straight roads over there 😉.

I've followed this forum since I've owned it and it has been of great help. I very rarely post as I don't have the knowledge of the likes of Shoppinit, Chunky and BumBum. But their advice and knowledge about these cars (and dead hookers) has been of great help. 🙄

All too often you hear the downside of owning one of these, but mine has been an absolute joy. So much so, that I have recently moved to Cork in Ireland and have officially imported it to Ireland, knowing that the road tax over here will be an eye watering €1800 per year 😳😢.

It has had a new engine and turbos installed at 40,000 under warranty by Audi as it was smoking a little. May have had something to with the fact that the owner at the time was a Mr Hamilton, whose son is apparently quite a good driver. At 70,000 it had a new gearbox installed by MRC/Chester Autos and has been running great ever since.

The day I imported it, the mileage recorded on the official import paperwork was 123456. :kissmyrings:

Ha ha, that's pretty cool.

I'd be worried about that yellow light though!

Meh, yellow lacks any real urgency. It's the flashing red ones you need to worry back. :)

Probably just because the IGN is on, not engine running.

Great story! Love it when the "internet experts" bang on about these going wrong and it's normally down to the DPO not looking after it! 8 months in and love mine and hope I never have to sell-and also this is one of the better forums I've joined, always makes me laugh and always have been given the right advice when ever I've needed help-you have got to be a special kind of human being to have one of these cars! Lol

Correct.

Hopefully I won't get any dash warning lights. I think finding an RS specialist in Cork, or anywhere in Ireland, might be an impossible task. I'll do the routine serving and general mechanical repairs myself, but the likes of a cambelt and major engine/fault diagnosis work is a bit beyond me. I have however 'invested' in a Vagcom and Rosstec cable, but I've never used it before so I'll probably be seeking some advice from here at some stage.

I've wanted one since I saw Morty drive one in layer cake, finally managed it and couldn't be happier!!

Yeah it's got things it needs but what other car has 450hp can carry 5 people and the dog, one minute be cruising across Germany at 125mph and then next the old ball and chain is driving it to cooking lessons, (lazy fat bitch should walk but I digress).

Awesome car.

Houses' other project!

She will always be the one that got away. Glad you've enjoyed the ownership and very happy to hear she's been reliable fun. Plenty more miles in the ol'gal yet too.
