Kinda good news, hopefully they'll just throw a complete new lump in for you. I'd rather that than the stealers try and rebuild the engine. Now you'll have a brand new engine, how many miles on the car?

Shame that there have been a few engine issues in the C7 now and at low miles too. Hope they are isolated issues, but I'd be extending the warranty if I had one.

Hence the extra 2 years I insisted on from Audi U.K. For my new PE. 5 year peace of mind 😀

Things not getting any better😫😫 dropped into Audi today to check on the car. The starter motor is also knackered. They showed me the spark plug from the failed cylinder it's completely crushed from the impact.
Would be interested to hear of any other failures like mine

This is one of those stories that makes those with a mapped car start sweating! £30k is £30k and if Audi (like any warranty/insurance company) can find a way to not pay out they will. 'Legalised theft' is a phrase I've heard to describe insurance!
It would be interesting to hear if tuning companies that champion their warranty policy for any faults would cover such a bill? Sounds horrendous mate and am glad that it looks like a warranty job...faced with a bill like that I don't know many who could (or would) be prepared to shell out £30k to repair their car?

I mean COMPLETE. Not using the old ancillary units, i.e starter motor........
Strange thing to notice while the engine is stripped, or unless they've fired a new lump in already?

Hopefully he will. When my wife had a new engine in her Porsche (under warranty) it came with everything - plug and play. :)

Fingers crossed for him.

How many is that that have failed now? Reguardless of being mapped. Standard have failed, wonder if the mapped ones have been the same fault?

IIRC Ski's car was an ex-demo and I'm wondering if the failure was due to being "1 owner many drivers" syndrome.

I'm only going on what Audi have told me. The codes showed starter motor this was removed and tested and was U/S. The next problem is removing the engine as it's totally seized and from what I'm told not easy to remove from gear box in this condition.
I have to say this has really made me stop and think. I've always mapped all my cars and always laughed off any potential issues, however this is potentially a massive amount of money and may well be the end for me in terms of playing with cars😫😫😫

Yep, and its a shame the C7 is completely gutless and cannot pull the skin off a rice pudding!!
