Fourie Fabrications
Fourie Fabrications
As some of you are aware, shortly after buying a car I was referred to a VAG specialists who happen to also make custom exhausts, so i initially just got the car de-cat and and the guys installed a 200cat cell and a backbox.
After a visit to Doug at MRC for Stage-1 I was advised to go back to the guys who installed the exhausts and remove the cats and remove the x-pipe.
So went back, removed the x-pipe and and the cats.
The result was that the car could be heard a few miles away in London in any direction and became a bit of joke, especially after getting abuse from my neighbours so I contacted a few exhaust specialist but wasn't comfortable with any, but stumbling across Stuart's IG a/c i.e. Fourie Fabrications, sent him a few msgs and set myself up an appointment for this morning and away i went, had to leave 05.00hrs and 1.45mins drive own to Wroxton (Near Banbury).
What can I say, Stuart put the car on the ramp and after carefully considering advised me my best options and so i decided to put another box in mid-section and the car sounds superb now, although I'll be going back (as currently i have aftermarket exhaust tips) to get the original exhaust tips installed and perhaps tuning the sound a bit, I am really impressed and highly recommend him for any exhaust works, very professional and has a sweet little unit that he's just setup.
He even fixed the slight knocking i heard and drove back straight in for him to do his magic and voila no more knocking.

Re: Fourie Fabrications
His welding is a work or art! He worked at MRC until recently when he set up his own business. Heard nothing butbgood things about him and have seen his work; highly impressive.
Re: Fourie Fabrications
Oooooo, another decent zorst fabricators
. Just seen in facefook that Jules had his C6 done there too. How is he price wise?

A mate also had 3.5 inch downpipes for his RS7 done there too.
Re: Fourie Fabrications
Mike, he really is a crafter, takes real pride in what he does
Chunky - I'd say he's reasonably priced, for what he puts in there and knowing if anything goes wrong, hey will put it straight.
Also he won't take the expensive route if it's not necessary, he will try and save your £ where he can.

Re: Fourie Fabrications
Sounds good. May have to contact him ref some down pipes, at least he'll have done some on a C5 before.

Re: Fourie Fabrications
Yeah Chunk I imagine he has done loads at MRC in the past.
I met u pwith a few RS6/7 today and comapred exhausts. There was my modified one, 2 Larini's, Milltek, a standard catback with Fourie 3.5inch downpipes, and Fourie cat back. The Fourie cat back stood out amongst the group for me as the best sounding. The Fourie downpipes also sounded impressive.

Re: Fourie Fabrications
Do you know why they wanted you to remove the x-pipe? Told me the same, but did not give a reason. Did you dyno with and without an x-pipe?Farravi wrote: ↑Fri Jun 30, 2017 4:53 pmAs some of you are aware, shortly after buying a car I was referred to a VAG specialists who happen to also make custom exhausts, so i initially just got the car de-cat and and the guys installed a 200cat cell and a backbox.

Found this clip interesting:

08 RS6 by Reperformance, MRC MAP. 977 PS - 1320 Nm.
Re: Fourie Fabrications
The difference is so small in that video (2hp at 360+hp) that it makes little difference in real life road driving. As to MRC, they said the same to me when I went for a 3in system, they said don't bother with any X-H pipe and just go straight through.
The only noticeable difference I found was noise. The Straight exhaust sounded more aggressive during the gear change "fart", in fact it's now like an anti-lag popping/banging noise, but that could also be down to the different back-boxes.

Re: Fourie Fabrications
Not yet, I've decided to replace virtually everything on the car rather than just rebuild the engine so pretty much just the shell will have 100k+ miles when it gets back which has meant it's been delayed due to money, parts & available ramp time in that order.

Re: Fourie Fabrications
In for a penny... you'll have to keep this car now, the pain of knowing someone else getting all that work for peanuts would sting too much. Is there anything tasty that you're doing to this engine, headwork?IanH755 wrote: ↑Sun Jul 02, 2017 9:04 amNot yet, I've decided to replace virtually everything on the car rather than just rebuild the engine so pretty much just the shell will have 100k+ miles when it gets back which has meant it's been delayed due to money, parts & available ramp time in that order.

Re: Fourie Fabrications
Nope, the £2k+ cost for CNC headwork vs 30-40hp performance increase on stock cams can't really be justified (same with Radtek I/C's etc) when I'd rather spend the money on new DRC, bushes/arms, detailing etc to make the car feel newer than it's 100k+ miles. Although it'll be getting a slight map tweak once the new engine is broken in.
Selling up - I'm genuinely still torn and flip/flop almost daily. My wallet haven't missed it being away (absence hasn't made the heart grow fonder) yet I can't stop myself spending money on improving it (as above) which is utterly stupid if I'm just going to sell it when I get it back. I really can't make a decision until it's back with me plus, as a contractor, things can financially change either way very rapidly which may also have en effect.
PS To avoid getting the thread further off topic I'm going to ask a mod to move these posts to my Readers Ride thread.
