Engine Mount

Post by Pistolpete2543 » Fri Jun 30, 2017 9:41 am

I've had the fault code coming up on VCDS for a while now for RHS engine mount solenoid. My local TPS have quoted £200+VAT for genuine replacement. What's the general consensus on:-

1. How much should I expect to pay to have this fitted?
2. If the RHS is gone, should I replace both or just the one in fault? I presume RHS is drivers side?
3. I like to keep the car original, but are the 034 or Stern mounts actually better than Audi ones? I presume they are stiffer and transmit more vibration than standard which I wouldn't really like.

Thanks

Labour is the killer on this as they are extremely hard to reach. I have 034 solid mounts and no noticeable vibration increased. And they will last forever. Also think it is best idea to replace as a pair.

^^^^^^ This, I have the same and is a vast improvement over standard in my opinion.

its supposedly 4 and half hours or so to change the starter which involves mount removal...so a bit less than that for one side anyway-3 hours?

I done mine the same time as replacing the starter. 2 birds one stone. Don't think it took 4.5 hours though. Need new screws for the anti-roll bar as they are use once jobbies.

Maybe i was wrong! I just checked my invoice: 14 hours labour but that included replacing 2 CV boots (on different driveshafts), replacing steering rack bolts, engine mount, starter motor and replacing front suspension arms for adjustable ones and alignment.
