That's interesting, do you not notice a significant difference between aux, CD and Radio.

Wound up as loud as it would go, with the phone turned up as loud as it would go you only got about 60% of the CD volume...

I did get that originally.

Did a bit of searching and it's either down to the power or impedance needed to drive the Aux input not matching the headphone output.

My Samsung has an alternative output to the headphone jack through the USB port. This works perfectly. It needed a means of getting the audio from the USB to 3.5mm jack, but an off-board DAC (tiny - half the size of a pack of chewing gum - and cost about £25) not only sorted that but also gave top notch sound quality

Of course you don't get track names on the display or anything. And everything has to be controlled on the phone. But it sounds great. All in cost was less than £100 (so about the same moneyI guess).

On a similar note......I have the rnse with the ipod dock already on the glove box, however for the life of me I cannot get any tunes to play. Power does get to my bluetooth receiver which is plugged in to the port however I cannot work out how to access it via the rnse.

Any pointers would be appreciated.

^ Nope. Plus there is VCDS coding to do to allow the gen 2 RNSE to see the AMI. Effectively you're taking a newer version A3 set up and plugging it into the B7.

Press the cd button and look under source. I think you need to select CD player, when you select a song on your phone, it'll display on the RNSE as a track with a number.

There are two different thinks being talk about in this thread. The iPod dock will work with the original RNSE but you cannot use the RNSE to control tracks on your phone.

The AMI is later technology therefore requires RNSE2. You can control the phone from the RNSE2 with this setup.

I tried disconnecting the ipod dock at the loom and reconnecting. For about 10 seconds I can see an audio cd is connected as cd 6 but I get no audio through, then the cd 6 option greys out and returns to the navigation disc in slot 7. I suspect the ipod dock is faulty. Anyone else had a faulty dock?

i have a headphone jack comming out the rear of my cd changer but cannot get it to play from my phone i have no idea what setting its on, is it possible you need a cd in the cd changer?

You have a headphone jack coming from the cd changer? Do you have Aux in the source menu? If not it needs coding that's why it doesn't work. You need to enable the Aux port.
