Maybe the 700+ bhp people expect is too much for the 4.0TT? Doug mentioned they are strained/more stressed engines when i took my car for for mapping

Redline up in York sold a FL C7 RS6, unbeknown to them it was modded and low and behold within a few weeks the gearbox went, when the purchaser took it to Audi they flagged straight away it wasn't a standard car and as the guy didn't buy it knowing it was modded he went straight back to Redline. They footed a very hefty bill by all accounts.

This is the problem, people do not know what they are buying, I'm all for modding if that floats your boat but there are too many people doing it and selling the car on unbeknown to the buyer or removing the mod and not telling them it was done previously.

For this reason I bought from a dealer, that way if there are any issues the fools should of checked before hand :biggrin2:

There seems to be lots of issues coming out from this thread regarding mapped cars, no one had a negative thing to say.......MRC, they win all the top awards; would be interesting to see of all the C7 owners on here
how many are mapped and of those that are mapped...how many, if any, have had issues as a result of the map? whether it be AMD, MRC etc etc

Reading lots of stories, but can't recall anyone specific on this thread whose had an issue......happy to stand corrected..... :)

from a purely pragmatic perspective, why would Doug risk his reputation, by mapping a car, that according to the above, the 4.0TT, is already strained / more stressed? Makes no business sense...

I'd be very surprised if this car was not a "dodgy" one and weak anyway as I can only assume if the buyer or seller didn't know it was tuned it was just a remap with no aftermarket exhaust.
Hence stage 1.

And they go beyond 8/900 with as far as I know no internal work...
Stand to be corrected on that. But they wouldn't fit hybrids if their was a risk without internal mods surely

I have had multiple MRC maps on multiple vehicles with no issues.

Like Iain, I do not believe that any of the REPUTABLE tuners would take the car beyond its capabilities and risk problems.

I know MRC and trust in their ability, capability and passion.

There will always be the odd rogue car that has issues, but most guys on here are mapped with few issues. Pay your money, get the gig....

Think about it. 5.0l V10 and a 4.0L V8 in a 2 ton car, which is more stressed? Nothing to due with tuning or reputations just obvious to some people. With regard to 700bhp+ and warranty worries I was surmising that maybe it was better to settle for a little less. I would.

Think I read in one of Ian H's threads he considered a big power C7 first but found cooling the limiting factor and lack of bolt on intercoolers/charge coolers.

There are 2 charge coolers available as far as I've found -
Forge do one which I might try but the AMS one looks much bigger, both need no fabrication.
AMS is American though and twice the money.
