Groaning noise after CV boot replacement

Post by TommyC » Mon Jun 05, 2017 5:42 pm

Had my inner CV boots replaced on friday by an indy (audi specialist). All audi parts and they replaced all the bolts etc with new. Noticed that when i first get in the car in the mornings i hear like a faint groaning noise from the front when i reverse or pull forwards off the drive. The noise goes after i have pulled away and doesnt reappear till the cars been stood a few hours. Then its just on the initial movement of the car.

This is the first time iv ever had CV boots replaced on any car so is this just normal and a case of the axles and joints bedding back in and the new grease working its way into the cv's? Or do i need to take it back in?

Cheers
Tom

Cheers for the reply. I'll drop it in to them tomorrow. Luckily they are within walkin distance of my office.

Yeah didn't notice it straight away, think it was Sunday, had it done Friday. Checked wheel bolts, all good. They fitted new hub bolts, do these need re-torquing after a few miles?

Took the car in and had them check all the bolts etc and all was good. I also took the time to clean the hubs and wheel spacers. Cars been fine for the last 2 days.

Cheers for the input guys. Appreciate it.

I wonder if they spotted and fixed something whilst it was there? I.e. Something that should have been sorted before you got the car back at first.
