Control Arms

Post by samuk » Thu May 18, 2017 7:59 am

Has anyone here had there control arms changed?

My front upper, lower suspension arms and anti roll bars need changing..

I have been told the Lemforder ones are not strong enough?

Costing £340 from car parts for less..

Installation is £200, however I was told I may also need to buy new bolts that will cost me extra.

On FB, I was recommended this kit...from the US..see pic, think will cost near £600 by the time it gets to be including post and customs.

£300 to have this put on...

You can get those kits from anywhere, no reason to buy it in the US.

Just an example http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MEYLE-Querlen ... 2429988902

Cheaper ones exist but I'd stick with Meyle stuff.
B7 RS4 saloon Misano red, comfy seats, JHM tune & JHM full exhaust with cats and resonators - gone.
C5 RS6 Avant Daytona/Cognac - gone.
981 Cayman GTS Gray/Orange.

I think the rs4 parts are no different to the a4 parts.
And anyone still on their original arms must have a car that handles like jelly. This is something I'd be looking for on a 10 year old rs4.

I couldn't see it. Would you mind posting a direct link please?

Out of interest, how does the Meyle compare spec and price-wise to the OEM equivalents?

And, if you want to go the adjustable arm route, which one is best?

I have the 034 adjustable arms. You can't adjust them in situ though. You have to disconnect, adjust tjen reconnect so a bit of a pain. If any of the other brands allow you to adjust without disconnecting then I'd go for those.

Unfortunately I can't link to a page within a page. You have the list of cars that it is suitable for, and right below that list you have links to pages 1-2-3-4 of that list.

I don't know who told you Lemforder aren't strong enough but they are right and wrong, right if you buy them from CP4L as they're listed wrong and for an A4 so softer bushes but mister-auto do the correct ones which are OE minus the Audi rings as they're ground off! (Came with bolts too)

^ I'd go for that. All German Parts provide a great service. Merle come wit four years warranty, so had to beat. Really not sure why Lemforder have been suggested as not strong enough, they are the OE manufacturer.

I would imagine RS4 arms are slightly longer than A4/S4 arms due to the wider track.
