Time to upgrade...?
Time to upgrade...?
Announcement will be C8. All A6 inc RS6 are produced on the same assembly line and it will shut for re-tooling.
Re: Time to upgrade...?
Yes as above, they will stop making the RS6 when the general C7 production stops and there will be a gap between the order books closing / final one rolls off the line and announcement of a C8 RS6, but clearly the A6 C8 will be announced and order books open.
Re: Time to upgrade...?
If past history is anything to go by, the RS model should appear around 18 - 24 months after the new design has been released so guess its either upgrade now or rethink entirely. The value of my current car in 18 months - 2 years time, compared to the new C8 RS when it arrives will, I imagine, be significant so what with that, plus the fact I'm not a very patient man, it tells me I should take the upgrade now, less the pano roof, and enjoy it to the full. Appreciate all the comments and will upload an image once the deal is completed.

Wasn't it much earlier than that with the C7? I know a larger release gap used to be the case with RS's, but something's telling me that changed with the C7?Scotty C wrote: ↑Thu May 11, 2017 12:43 pmIf past history is anything to go by, the RS model should appear around 18 - 24 months after the new design has been released so guess its either upgrade now or rethink entirely. Re: Time to upgrade...?
From what I understand the C7 was launched in early 2011 and the RS was announced late 2012 but released early to mid 2013... although I could be wrong.W8PMC wrote: ↑Thu May 11, 2017 4:46 pmWasn't it much earlier than that with the C7? This seems about right https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Audi_A6. You could get an RS6 C7, as you say, mid 2013. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article ... 90mph.htmlScotty C wrote: ↑Thu May 11, 2017 5:11 pmFrom what I understand the C7 was launched in early 2011 and the RS was announced late 2012 but released early to mid 2013... although I could be wrong.W8PMC wrote: ↑Thu May 11, 2017 4:46 pmWasn't it much earlier than that with the C7? If the C8 is launched early 2018 then it should be safe to say the C8 RS6 will be at least 12 or so months after that. I'm going to put my money on a hybrid at 700bhp.

Re: Time to upgrade...?
Your wife should visit this forum haha, joking. 19k miles and you had such fail with Rs6, what a disaster. I don't think that c8 going to be very impressive, I don't even think it will have more than 650-670 hp, not going to have 700hp, and could be that it will be part electric part fuel, what I hate most.Scotty C wrote: ↑Wed May 10, 2017 10:08 pmI have considered that option and been trawling all three sites for the last few weeks. However to be fair, the prices for those with a reasonable spec are not much different to the deal i am close to agreeing for a new one. I'm not fussed about HUD or ceramics and with the kids, i'd be a nervous wreck with Alcantara so no point in paying top money for things that I am happy to live without. Plus, if i get the same colour as my existing car then my wife may never know I've spent more money![]()
Re: Time to upgrade...?
So the deal is done - Collecting the FL PE early next week!
Was happy with the P/X value on the Pre FL and agreed 11.5% off list price for the new one (which currently seems to be top end). Also agreed a 5 year warranty at no extra cost due to the broken valve inlet spring scenario I recently experienced.
Current insurer wanted to increase my premium from £800 to £1200, still with a tracker, which was disappointing, so checked with NFU, who i use for other bits, and they came back with £650 and no tracker required. Result ; )

Re: Time to upgrade...?
I'm with NFU Mutual. Nice to deal with a proper Insurer & the 2yr new for old kind of eliminates any need for GAP. They were also within a few ££'s the cheapest on my FFRR.
Looking fed to seeing the piccies.

Time to upgrade...?
Wonder what engine will be In the new C8.. will it be the same as the RS3 and the same engine just with a bit more grunt. I can see an engine change on the RS4 in the new model but not the six.

Re: Time to upgrade...?
Don't think Rs6 will be 6 cylinder car, it will stay v8
Re: Time to upgrade...?
From what i have heard, the 4 litre twin turbo v8 used in the new Porsche Panamera turbo was co-developed between Porsche and VAG for use in the RS model cars so expect that unit in the C8 RS6, just with more power than the Panamera turbo has (i think it has 560ish bhp at present).
