Intake manifold and heat resistant paint.
Intake manifold and heat resistant paint.
I've got a stage 2 manifold sitting here I'm getting fit in a couple of weeks and wanted to get it refinished but don't want to fork out over £200 that I've been quoted to have it done professionally. Is the heat resistant spray paint that's on the market any good? Would I be stupid to even consider it? Or would it be ok? Won't be running spacers so it will still be getting warm and don't want it fading or peeling.
Would just go black I think.

Re: Intake manifold and heat resistant paint.
Thanks to Pule333's suggestion I just purchased some VHT High Temp Crackle paint. It'll arrive early next week so i'll report back once it's complete.
Re: Intake manifold and heat resistant paint.

I've had some good results with the VHT wrinkle paint in the past, used VHT primer first though.

Yes I wonder if the brake caliper clear coat will also work on the carbon fibre engine cover since mine are looking like corn flakes... planning to buy a new set but need to make sure it can be protected or otherwise it might be better without a cover !!...

Re: Intake manifold and heat resistant paint.
Ive been screwed around on ebay and it doesn't look like Ill get the paint before the weekend before the car is due at Mrc on Monday. Anyone know somewhere in London that will supply VHT spray paint?

What I coincidence, I had a Black LE up until last summer

Re: Intake manifold and heat resistant paint.
Thanks Mike, I placed another order from an online store here in the uk. Fingers crossed it arrives for the weekend. I wanted to go with the vht brand, I know it's been around for years and seems to be decent quality. Didn't want to risk it with an unknown brand.
Re: Intake manifold and heat resistant paint.
So I finished off painting this morning. The top is complete and I baked it in the oven this morning. I must say I am very happy with the result. I was worried last night when it looked gloss, it's nice and satin now and the crackle is coming up. This should look quite smart once it's fit next week.
