Positive Experiences of RS6 Ownership

Post by ImmortanJon » Wed Apr 26, 2017 8:09 pm

Hello All – after seeing quite a few negative (and downright scary) stories of RS6 ownership, I thought I’d start a post about *positive* experiences. I’m not talking about our experiences as drivers of these fine machines, but happy or funny experiences, encounters & reactions from others. I’ll kick off with a few….

(1) The looks it gets. Not jaw-dropping, head turning looks like a “traditional” sports car does, just the subtle looks of appreciation from “those who know”. My Wife has finally noticed the looks the car gets – I think she thought they were looking at her until I explained (mistake!).

(2) The giggles and squeals of glee when I take my nephews and niece out in it and give it a bit of snap, crackle and pop. In fact the reaction anyone has when taken out for a test drive.

(3) The regular discussions I have with delivery drivers/builders etc. who pull up and see it on the driveway. Only the other day I ended up taking to a car-mad DPD guy for 10 mins about it.

(4) That I’m almost on first-name terms with the staff at the local petrol station. Scratch that, it’s probably a negative.

Such a great car and so practical. I’ve had 450kgs of tiles and garden stuff in the cavernous boot, yet the next minute when unloaded it is giving 911’s a shock and scaring cyclists 😊

Would love to hear yours … remember, keep it positive….

Much of the above to be fair.

Fast Audis still have "kudos" even though most petrolheads know they aren't the final word in dynamic...

I love the Audiesqe styling which is still simple compared with the latest offerings of chintzy Mercedes and OTT BMs.

Only thing I've found is..(sorry slight negative)....most people didn't believe I was running 700bhp plus in my old car!!....thought it was BS!

I would agree with all from the OP the pops and bangs are just LOL. The guys at my local tip love it. They can't believe I put bulk bags full of grass cuttings in it , but that's why I bought it both practical and fun when you decide to unleash the beast.

agreed with the above. It's a positive it doesn't get the ridiculous attention supercars and poster cars get but it's satisfying when someone who really knows cars tips it a nod.
Although since mine has just had miltek and downpipes it already gets much more attention from the kids as the popping and crackles in "S" are frankly ridiculous! Lol love it.

Comfort, even in low spec. It's a great place to be and the missis can drive it with ease comfortably (I'm not so comfortable though tbh!)

Mine never carries rubbish or expected to be family taxi or otherwise bought solely for my limited miles or otherwise and gets noticed more frequently or positively than my B8 Rs4. In nogaro with capristo roaring than my C7 in white with not even sports exhaust who woulda thought !

It was amusing to see the attention the car received by people of different ages at a service station recently on the German Autobahn... like they'd never seen one before !! The pops and crackles turn heads wherever it is and it puts a smile on the faces of whoever has a ride in it.

Also - people filming the car by mobile phones on the motorway is nice, but a little weird, and frequent Snapchat and Instagram posts too by my 17 year old son, who will only ever let me drop him off in it, as opposed to anything else I drive, and my 4 year old daughter constantly telling me "Go on Daddy... go fast again" : )

Nodding my head and laughing to every familiiar point you made.

Wacthed from a visit to parents as a woman in an Evoque got her phone out and did a drive by shoot!

Coming out of shops to see young lad stop his bike to take photos to then cheer and clap as I drive off and gun the throttle in neutral.

Fitting the buggy and carry cot side by side in the boot.

Sitting behind drivers seat with tons of leg room, being 6'2"!!

My 10 week old daughter crying when I drive slowly.

And very much ditto on delivery guys.

Most of the above really- but people taking pictures whilst you are sitting in it is strange.
Classic question is how fast does it go .... I always reply "At least 70mph" of course with a slight smile. But when I see another RS6 I always think to myself how huge it looks on the road.
RS6 Grey and Loud. :-)

I assume you not satisfied with crackles and bangs with your Miltek and cat less downpipes? If I were you I would left stock dps and add only non resonated Miltek that would sound way better

I like the sound and the downpipes take it to the next level power wise and that was the intention.
It's the frequency which is excessive. On my tuned Cars previously the sound was the same but less frequent and only at certain revs / downhill etc. This does it on every lift or partial lift of the throttle and last for ages. I love the sound but I am considering them mapping it out which I'm sure they can do as it's not "tune" related
Only done about 50 miles in it so far - time will tell
