True and hopefully I won't be left out of pocket as a result. Yep I do have gap cover too.

These high performance cars should come fitted with remote imobolisers as standard which can be activated by the tracker/monitoring companies once reported of theft. Should not require the police permission to do so either . If they can tell the the location and speed of the car by gps surley they can safely imbolise it .

Of course insurance and Gap etc are for horrible occasions like this.

However when the incident happens on your own property and involves violence it leaves a nasty taste for me.

It worries me that this type of theft is on the rise massively whether it be a two in one burgulary or a "hold up" type of theft like this.

As said it's time manufacturers stepped up the game with keys and immobilisers etc....HOWEVER I guess it's impossible to stop this type of scenario or carjacking etc

Sad times.

It's cause of the manufacturers this kind of theft is happening, if they didn't fit immobilisers to keys then the scum bags wouldn't need the keys. Not blaming them, just stating the facts. In the good old days, you just needed a coat hanger to open the car then twist a few wires together and it was gone.
Also, in the good old days there weren't as many of these scum bags in the UK.

The manufacturer is to blame here. They can help prevent this crime by making the car useless once stolen like the phone manufacturers can do. If the same immobiliser already fitted can be remotely disabled then the would be good for nothing other than scrap parts.

Given these incidents including the girlfriends neighbours house having their door smashed for an older RS6 in despite the neighbours calling the police and filming the event I cancelled my order for a new RS6 performance and bought myself a nice plain BiTDI.

I miss my old RS6, but the BiTDI does the job for the motorway cruises...

Stay safe,
Lewy

Haha. There were a few users on here who had it fitted in the last 12 months, few threads with pics, recommended switch locations and installers etc

What can they do?
Shoot the lot of them.

No written warnings, no community payback orders, no slap on the wrist, just remove that cancer from society. In a stolen car you can't reasonably prove you didn't know was stolen (even though that's still a crime)? Shot. Suspect parts on your ebay page, or in your shed/garage? Shot. No insurance? Shot. There's no way the police don't know who the majority of these gangs are, they just can't get a case to stick in court due to circumstantial evidence etc etc.
