Tell me more; would I need a fascia plate for SPH model? Installation & wiring easy enough? I haven't fitted a head unit since around 2005
You will indeed need a fascia; I got mine from connects2. There are a couple of different versions available, the one I've got at the moment is on the link below:

http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/connect ... di-a4-2002

I also had the installer spray it with a couple of coats of Tamiya model paint ("Black Rubber" TS-82 off ebay). It matches the RS4 dash colour and texture very well.

You'll also need a module to retain the steering wheel controls. I believe the installer also got this from connects2, but I'm not sure on the part no.
Bit of a thread resurrection lol. The rnse system is so dated think it may be easier just to upgrade the whole unit.

Can I ask did you need any wiring adapters for the unit to link it to the standard audi wiring?

I have the SatNav Plus and BT phone system. Will this head unit still work with the phone kit?

Any help or pointers appreciated

Any pictures lads of the pioneer CarPlay unit installed? From close up and a distance so I can gauge how it looks overall

Have you got the RS4 button and eject button wired to anything?

Looks spot on, can I ask

Does your phone still work via the cars Bluetooth phone kit, mic, speakers or via the new head unit?

Do your buttons on the steering wheel work?

Do you have a link to the facia surround?

Cheers

The headunit has bluetooth built in so just used that as it works with the voice commands etc. I have flat bottom steering wheel so no functional buttons... the surround was supplied by Sextons car audio in Gloucester... i know there were two options, and this fitting kit was the more expensive one, but it fits so well compared to the other one, where the stereo sticks out the dash.

Thanks mate, trying one cheaper option out to get Bluetooth streaming via a tune2air option. If that fails then one of these units will be going in as I can't justify the cost of the MK2 upgrade which is still dated by today's offerings

Do you still get the radio and track data on the DIS display between the clocks ? That's the only thing that's putting me off
