ROLLED ARCHES & LOWERING
ROLLED ARCHES & LOWERING
Here is a picture of my car with 20" wheels and 15mm spacers due to some pratt at the wheel Shop sending 10j instead of 8.5j, anyway i got over that problem, the wheels dont rub at all during driving unless i hit a speed hump but as i dont want this ive decided to maybe roll the arches or should i say have them rolled. Has anyone had this done? and is it safe as in not much chance of damage occuring ?
also i am unsure what you guys considered low? looking at the picture below i personally think it needs to come down half inch to an inch so it sits level with the top of the tyre, is this the norm or would you leave it alone ?

Re: ROLLED ARCHES & LOWERING
Nice wheels
I have nothing to add on the arch rolling, but I know a couple of guys have had theirs done. Faisal has I think.
But please stop using all caps in your thread titles, my OCD is not liking it. Cheers

Re: ROLLED ARCHES & LOWERING
Jules, David and possibly Cov have had arch work done. There is only a lip on one set of arches anyway (can't remember which though).
Re: ROLLED ARCHES & LOWERING
Only roll if you're prepared to repaint if they crack. The arches are aluminum so a lot of guys will either not do it or agree to take no responsibility if the paint cracks..
No i don't think that's all that low you could definitely come down but I also think the car looks smart as is.

As he mentioned people will do them but they could crack can be hit and missjonytek wrote: ↑Fri Mar 17, 2017 5:42 pmOnly roll if you're prepared to repaint if they crack. The arches are aluminum so a lot of guys will either not do it or agree to take no responsibility if the paint cracks..

Nice
Would look better a touch lower if you can get away with it. What suspension are you on?
My front arches were rolled before I bought the car - I don't think there was any repainting involved.
Where exactly are the wheels rubbing though? All 4 arches? Just front or just rear? In the rear, I believe there is an arch liner screw that catches - you can just remove it. You'll be able to tell if it was rubbing as it'll be nice and shiny!

Re: ROLLED ARCHES & LOWERING
As Mike says, I have had arch work done. I first had them rolled, which was a complete waste of time, paint cracked, lips not flattened as required. I do not recommend this at all.
I took my car to my friends professionally approved BMW body Shop and his brother heated and tapped the arches back to nearly flat but enough to maintain the arch liners being tucked in.
I am low with 20's and have driven the car at speed, around the Nürburgring many times and all sort of crappy UK roads with no problem with rubbing or anything else at all. The B7 should have come with 20's as an option in the 1st place.

Re: ROLLED ARCHES & LOWERING
Im on bilsteins / coilovers and i think its the ones where you adjust the dampers, not sure where its rubbing just yet as each time i get home its dark, i do believe its all four but its only occasionally so its not like im driving along whacking the arches thank god but any rubbing isn't good as its annoying me. the inner arch liner screw at the front has already been removed.FaisalJ wrote: ↑Fri Mar 17, 2017 8:11 pmNice

Re: ROLLED ARCHES & LOWERING
i think ive got to go for it in all honesty, its been a fu£k up from the start when the wheels were too big, so i may as well just get them rolled and slightly lower the car and if its a paint touch up required then i guess it just adds to the problems and i will have to suck it up.
window tinting booked in for next week along with rolled arches and lowering, week after all the chrome parts being matt blacked in wrap all done at specialist garages, then i think thats about my lot. i may or may not re mapp, and i do like the front carbon splitters and rear carbon diffusers but not sure its all a bit over the top as im not in my twenties any more LOL, has any one fitted a carbon diffuser ? any pictures ?

Re: ROLLED ARCHES & LOWERING
Just my opinion, I'd leave the chrome of you're not going to get the wheel colour changed. The wheels and the chrome actually look really good together. A nice light tint on all windows will be good though. Wheels look nice, you've come out of a fecked up situation really well.
Be careful who you get to roll the arches, there are some right Cowboys out there doing it.

Re: ROLLED ARCHES & LOWERING
I agree, car looks great as is. Why don't you go with some smaller spacers? I've got a set of 12mm spacers that I can let go for cheap, might be a better option than rolling and potentially painting..chunky79 wrote: ↑Sat Mar 18, 2017 7:03 amJust my opinion, I'd leave the chrome of you're not going to get the wheel colour changed.
